We got seats, we got sod (now "wall to wall" with just a small bare patch) . . . now we just need a team.
It's not done on time. It's about 8 years late. Pretty easy to make your dates when you keep moving them out. But actually, I'm too happy to be this cynical!
I was referring to someone who made a comment a few weeks back that he was not very positive of the stadium being finished by the start of the next season. But like you I'm really really happy the crown jewel of American Soccer and MLS is so close to being done!!!
lol does it really matter? The stadium will be done before the first game of the next season! The 3 last major components to be installed are the last bit of grass, the last section of roof which is being prepped for installation and the seats, which are also being installed. After that it's just the details, like the big screens and all the TV in the stadium plus the rest of the interior decoration
stupid question - i live in boston and i assume the weather's nearly identical in harrison. it's getting pretty cold these days. is that going to hurt the chances of the grass taking root and staying healthy? i honestly know nothing about the topic. congrats on your stadium. we're probably going to be waiting a long time here in new england for something like that.
Should be OK I would think unless we get some freakish weather. Yeah it has been pretty cold here. I would love to see you guys get a stadium in the Boston area somewhere. That would be rockin'. Doubt I'll be revisiting Gillette again after the negative experience this season. I know there was talk of a stadium in Somerville over near Lechmere. Has that all gone quiet? I have family in Somerville so that would be ideal.
If you notice, it's slightly discolored from the rest. Do you think letting it sit in the rain overnight, all rolled up, may have done it harm? I wonder if we will have problems with this side of the pitch going forward...
That is not on any of the stadium renderings that I've seen. Someone speculated that they could just be leaving the gaps to allow for more space when installing the other seats.
That news was last year, didn't hear much this year.. A pitch for soccer in Somerville The Boston Globe
yeah, periodically there will be some news blip involving somerville, at one point jamaica plain was mentioned. i think the revs COO came out with a statement to the effect of "we'll keep researching and when we have something real to say, we'll make an announcement". while it's nice not to get empty promises, that also gives them leeway to continue to do nothing at all (which I don't think is a crazy assumption with Kraft having no real incentive to pony up for a new stadium and public money seemingly impossible to touch right now). hoping to make it to NJ for a game in the next couple years, the stadium looks like it's gonna be a gem.
I hadn't even noticed those until you brought them up. I think the different color seats is more likely IMHO. The spacing is about equal between the columns, but not within the sections as I would expect if it was just an ease of installation thing. And it's only in the endline sections. They didn't do that on the side or corner. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
couldn't those just be aisles so you don't have to present either you balls/ass to 20 something people as you make your way to your seat in the middle of the section?
