Some interesting things in there like the fact that so many clubs have spent big on Ade Akinbiyi. :D And that some clubs havent broken their club transfer record in nearly 30 years.

    John K,

You wouldn't happen to have the information of the Spanish and Italian clubs? Just for a comparison?

A few points. Shevchenko's transfer free was undisclosed but widely accepted to be a British record fee in the £30m bracket. Quite a few of the transfers listed include all of the various potential add-ons. If that is the case then Arsenal's record transfer is Reyes for £17.5m.

And he was crap. We somehow made a profit when Roy Keane was presented with what he thought was Monopoly money in the summer and bid £3 million for him.

That is true...unless some of you are involved with the clubs or know some agents...there is no way that you know how much a transfer fee was/is. Torres' transfer was more like 22.5 million but again with the add-ons the fee rises.

It all depends on how you add up transfer costs. Some people include the agents fees, some the admin fees, the medical costs, the singing on fees, the value of any player going the other way etc.

When Man Utd signed Rooney the deal was £10m after one season, £10m after the next, and the rest was made up of signing on fees, success clauses and an agents fee. Over all it comes to £28m I think, but so far we've only paid £22m roughly although more success will cost. But then, we're the only club in the league that make our transfers 100% transparent and announce every cost. No one else does this.

If you include Torres' signing on fee, agent fee, medical assessment cost, etc it probably comes to about £26m which is a more accurate cost of what the player actually costs the club, and not just a relection of how much monjey is being paid directly to Athletico Madrid for signing the player.

Which is what the Keane reading bustup was over. There were certain activities of Mr Halford Coppell knew about when he sold him to us which caused Keane to lose it down your place, the papers reported it as fury over the goal though.

the main activity he was no doubt annoyed over was Halford's ability to impersonate a decent footballer from afar.

Whatever "activities" he may or may have not indugled in, the fact that he just isn't good enough is the crucial reason behind him not making it.

And if he was indulging to the degree some are hinting at, it's pretty surprising that he hasn't been caught yet.

And you don't hear Coppell ranting and raving about Colchester for not respecting our club when they sold him.

As far as I was aware Man Utd paid nowhere near £22m for Anderson. The valuie is somewhere between £14m-£17m.

I'm not totally convinced there was any "secret" to know in terms of off-field activities. Fans tend to have a habit of believing their own supporters' speculations about such things.

It should be noted that MK Dons are not Wimbledon, they relinquished the right to Wimbledon's history and achievements to Merton Borough last year.

Wow, I never realised how low Hartlepool's transfer budgets must be. They look so out of place in League One there, infact they would be one of the lowest in League Two aswell.

a lot of those lower division record singings were most likely made when they were in a higher division than now. Brighton's was 28 years ago, for example, when they were in the old Division 1, somehow getting crowds of 29,000 into the Goldstone.
