Ah, so building a palace makes you a dictator. Got it.

If you have the ability to relate, you would come to the conclusion that Recep Erdogan is one of the finest, if not best leader in the Middle East. In such a violent region filled with war, terror, genocides, disasters he has managed to change a Turkey that was dealing with major crisis in 2003 to one of the best functioning countries in the Middle-East and a super potential economy.

Sure, he can be egocentric sometimes but from what I have learned from my 7-year work trip in Turkey, he has been making deadly progress and continues to do so.

That ''press'' is mostly Erdogan's enemy, F. Gülen, leader of the cemaat, also known as paralelciler.
The opposition in Turkey isn't as strong as it should be, which gives Erdogan huge power to control the country. I am not going to excuse his controversial decisions in the last few years but in comparison to Kiliçdaroglu (leader of CHP - 2nd biggest political party in Turkey) and Devlet Bahçeli (leader of MHP), he is significantly better.

As long as the opposition in Turkey continues to be controlled by old conservative morons, akp will continue to be the biggest party in Turkey. This is not because akp is a terrific, this is because there is a lack of better politicians in the country.

So as far as I know they put the coup down correct.

The coup soldiers never received the support of the Turkish people, even from those that hate the President.

A good sign of Democratic maturity.
