    "IMO" being operative.

I'm truly curious as to why you think this.

    What puttputt said.

Are we not entitled to opinions? It's not like I said "Deadspin is gospel to be taken as absolute truth." I grabbed two links that I felt did a quick and easy job of summarizing recent events. In my opinion, they were unbiased. I like to think that I wouldn't intentionally post misleading sources and then ask for discussion. This isn't Facebook.

I've noticed a trend - you rail against anything you disagree with even if it's immaterial to the topic at hand. And before the slings and arrows of Personal Attack are strewn about: It's not just you.

I replied. I agree that a lot of "journalists" are ignoring or ignorant of the minutiae of the debate and are just clamoring for equal pay without knowing what the really means or entails.

What an absurd thing to say. 1. I did not say you weren't, only that it was operative and thus to be taken with a grain of whatever is your preferred seasoning, and 2. no one is entitled to an opinion that is free from criticism.

And Deadspin has a shitty track record on this very subject.

Welcome to every day? Ask the people who have been around - this is utterly normal, and not all of it is particularly serious (though this was - I mean, if this were the UK, I think Deadspin could have had a libel suit on their hands; to be clear, I'm glad our laws are much more strict w.r.t. bringing suit).

I was posting while you replied.

Fair enough, lesson learned. Going forward I'll post from the neutral third of the media bias spectrum.

What? I'm serious. I know that some sources - like Deadspin - are questionable (though in this case I didn't think it was an issue) and so going forward I'll stick to legit news and not editorial. I come here for intelligent discussion and if I want to foster that environment I need to do my part.

I guess your choice of phrase ("neutral third of the media bias spectrum"? Huh?) made that seem a tad...non-concillatory.

    It's all good.

Yes. It's not a complete lie since the money does come from the USSF but it's highly misleading to say they get the money for being USWNT players as opposed to playing for NWSL teams. They could probably separate out the amount they are getting for USWNT membership via a comparison to good NWSL players not on the team. Jaelene Hinkel frex. ;)

NWSL salaries range from 16,500-44,500. Players with a USSF contract are paid 70,000 for playing in NWSL which is in addition to their 100,000 base salary. There are other benefits contracted players get including insurance, pension, disappearing from your NWSL team for a month mid season and calling a NWSL team owner a homophobe if the national anthem isn't played at a desired time.

About the only place I see "neutral" anymore is on my car's shifter....

That said, the BBC isn't a terrible choice...

Goff says that Kate Markgraf is the frontrunner to be the new GM. (She would presumably be in charge of hiring the next coach? Maybe?)

Agreed, this totally dilutes the competition and will make for even more double-digit routs.

I'd bet my old co-ed team could give some of the lesser teams in a field that large a run for their money.

Based on the stories you've told you're probably right.

Let me rephrase that--I'd also suggest that most of the teams I played against (we're talking "open" play not the 30+ and 40+ leagues I played in later in my career) would have similar results. Certainly those in Corporate Challenge as Nationwide used to roll out a team with almost all former D1 NCAA players (they may still do that, but I've not played CC in over a decade).

My club team was just an average team....

If the men's game can pointlessly expand to 64 teams, the women's can expand to 32. That's the purpose of equality, right. Right?

...and it will probably be mobile only again.:(

Not that I really want to be part of the post World Cup money grab tour.... But it is an attractive matchup.
