I think it might work in limited occasions outside of the same email system, but its very unusual.

I don't think the Bronocs itself are the issue, but studies have shows that Denver is one of the most over-saturated sports markets in the country, with a team in each of the Big 4 plus MLS and two lacrosse teams.

I think we agree that this is a tough market, but who else is responsible for marketing and sales? I think the general incompetence of the RFO is directly related to a lack of season ticket sales. In an over-saturated sports town, a team like the Rapids is going to have to work twice as hard as everyone else to pull marketshare from the big 4 sports. Maybe we won't ever have 15,000 STH but certainly we can expect better than 3,100 can't we?

I can't speak to whether Denver would have an MLS team without Anschutz's involvement in the league, other than the general demographics of the city seem to match well with that of Portland/Seattle and the other successful recent entrants to the league (relatively young, well educated, decent discretionary income).

It's not a BS rant, try to read my post with the slightest generosity of intention. I'm glad you don't care. Most people do.

BTW, the season ticket number from the spreadsheet is 3500, not 3100.

Good catch, not sure where I pulled 3,100 from. I've found when I'm on my soap box my fact checking suffers.

Perhaps Hinchey directly reaching out, claiming an "on behalf of" X-KSE Exec, would encompass more of a broader accountability?

If I were in charge, I might of taken the opportunity to encourage feedback that may help marketing target more season and game-to-game ticket sales. On top of that, I might even call a meeting with all the supporters groups to sponsor discounts to those that refer.

So you won't mind if I just go ahead and throw up your info on 4chan?

I'm sure you'd appreciate all the furries and bestiality porn that would be showing up in your inbox. ...Plus the prank calls and voice mails. ...Plus any random anon that fells like hacking your computer, email, Twitter, and Facebook just for the fun of it.

Probably would have been good for that email from Schwarzkopf to have also been signed by Hinchey. They probably just didn't think about the idea that it could be signed by two people.

I agree I am not that concerned that people now have my email and phone number. It could have been A LOT worse. For those of you going nuts, have you seen what you can find online (and not just by a google search). It wouldn't be that hard for someone to take my name, find out where I live, then look in the public records and find how much I owe on my house, how many rooms it has, etc. Good password management is one of the biggest keys to keeping yourself from being an easy target.

I just hope that the spreadsheet was generated from a database. Sadly, though I wouldn't be that surprised if they input the info into a database, but also have the excel spreadsheet for those that don't 'get technology'

You guys are taking this way too serious. I have inside knowledge of exactly what happened (just don't ask me for my sources).

Hot new intern to Boss-- “ohhhmyygodddd” I just sent out that email to the season ticket holders with the spreadsheet you sent me attached!
Boss to hot new intern—You did what?...Um that’s ok, maybe I shouldn’t have attached it to the email verbiage.
    Intern—the what?
Boss—Nevermind. Um, do that email retraction thing.
    Intern—ok… where is that?
Boss—Here, I’ll do it, when I’m done you can re-send without the attachment.
    Intern—but won’t people be mad?
Boss—No, no one reads these things anyways. We’ll just pretend it never happened. We just gotta make sure that General Schwartzkopf doesn’t hear about it.
    Intern—So, we’re cool then?
Boss—Sure. We’re still on for dinner after the game, right?

I love these stories. Someone should try to do OP talking to players this way.

Ahhh, Wells, I got the boys I like now. You will never touch the field again even if our plane crashes.

Well, I don't explain Seattle, but, I am pretty sure it is not a Broncos town. My point, which apparently you missed, is that the sports market, the sports media and most Denver folks in general are mesmerized by the Broncos. It is not a football team it is specifically the Broncos. These fans don't give a damn about other sports and certainly not the Rapids. My statement concludes that there are simply too few soccer fans &/or MLS soccer fans in Denver to raise the number of tickets sold to a more respectable level. One cannot sell steak to a vegan nor sell soccer tickets to someone who does not want to view soccer!

Maybe the real question is why are interns the only ones communicating on behalf of the Rapids. Just about every email is riddled with errors. Maybe it isn't a huge deal but it doesn't create the impression that the organization doesn't know what they are doing. That is a big problem and one the Rapids should be taking seriously if they were smart.

I don't care that my name and info was sent out. However, as someone who works hard to bring new people to the stadium with SGs, I am sick of the incompetence. It doesn't help and needs to change.

Marx I tend to agree with you, but I also don't buy this Broncos argument. If true then no sport other then Broncos would draw fans, but they do. Plus Demographic of MLS soccer fans says/ shows Denver has the young population which is its support base.

About half of the few people I have talked into coming to game also are season ticket holders to Broncos. They just enjoy going out to supporting events and decide to check it out on nice summer day.

I guess it depends on what you consider to be drawing well. The Rockies, Avs and Nuggets don't pack their stadiums, and their attendance is more dependent on the team's performance. They don't seem to me to get anywhere close to the air time on talk radio and the local sports news. Though at least the Nuggets and Rockies are middle of the pack in their leagues, which is something the Rapids would probably really be happy about.

I had sort of forgotten about this, but the Yankees did a similar thing last year:

But no one should care, it gave NO information that I couldn't find on you or any other person in less than five minutes online. Just reality dude... If you are getting this worked up over email and phone numbers... Gee I'd hate for them to give someone your seat location.

It happens on a daily basis. Like mentioned before... People are getting worked up for nothing.

You guys should forward the original e-mail to the local media. And to Deadspin. They'd have some fun with this.

Being tied for 8th out of 19 teams isn't middle of the pack?

Two wrongs don't make a right. And while you can probably find most of this information on most of the season ticket holders with a little Google work you can't find things like the amount they spend on season tickets and the amount they still owe the Rapids. To say nothing of the financial data they've now released to the world which will hurt both the team and the league in future negotiations and such.

Sorry, I meant in attendance. Or are you also referring to attendance? I don't follow the attendance threads...do the Rapids consistently hit middle of the pack?

I'm still waiting for that example of "30 seconds from Google" for getting 1,500 names, emails, and phone numbers of specific people neatly packaged.

*Edit: The point I'm making here is that the sum is greater than its parts.

Perhaps one of the Rapids Rewards for this week could be the full spreadsheet with credit card information included.

Why not create an app that reports GPS locations to technologically advanced thieves? Then again, ignorance is bliss, right? Who cares if basic information can lead to specific targeting. White collar crime never hurt blue collar...
