Cobalt, Claret and Silver? I'm betting they refresh RSL's logo at the same time they are doing a new one for RMSL. I'd have to bet the design charges to cover both are a modest increase above doing just one - and you get to match up designs, colors, styles, etc. RSL then uses that new design for their new 2015 jersey (white?) and of course t-shirts, scarves, etc. to generate more RSL-wear sales. Isn't 2015 the year they add the third jersey?
I'm still bummed we didn't go with the obvious choice--the Fightin' Owls. WHOOO? The Fightin' OWLS! The Dubaijet sponsorship, the ready-made prestige, the glory...another opportunity lost.
Blame Orem. Maybe you could send a note to DLH suggesting he buy the Orem Owlz, rename them and then use Owls for RSL USL (aka RuSL).
Another article about the stadium. http://www.ksl.com/?sid=31540753&nid=148&title=soccer-stadium-in-the-works-at-utah-fairgrounds
So. Many. Stupid. People. Seriously, the amount of idiocy that exists on news article comment sections is ridiculous. How can we as a civilization expect to survive with so many stupid people running around the world?
Are you referencing all the people who don't want their large amounts of publicly donated cash to build a kickball stadium for white rich guys like DLH? .... what, you mean he is spending his own money on the project? Almost the whole thing? What!
I think that comment sections on news articles, youtube videos, IMDB entries, etc. are specially designed to attract a certain kind of person, and keep them from mixing in polite society. They're doing us a huge favor.
I mean seriously, the only people that are intelligent are the people who post to Big Soccer since obviously, we all have advanced doctorate degrees in our field of expertise and the president has us all on speed dial, n'est-ce pas?
There's the four letter word that RSL loves to bash. Glad to hear we'll be sending players coming back from injury to a 'turf' field to get back into game fit shape. I'm sure Sabo and Schuler will thank us (Javi, Kyle and others as well). The only upside is that I'm sure RSL will choose the best turf they can afford.
glass half full: we have a place to train properly before Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, and New England road trips.
The Kamrani blog about the stadium made this sound like it was/would be only for the first season and only so that the stadium could be up and running in the timeframe Dell Loy wants it to. Though that seems a little unnecessarily expensive to put in turf for one season and then replace it with grass.
It's his money so who cares? If he wants to drop a couple million more to have it ready sooner, that's on him. In fact, I'd say that's a pretty positive thing to be willing to pay extra to be able to start sooner.
It does, but it doesn't seem like there's much of a choice. I'd rather see them play in their own place a year sooner, than play somewhere else and then play at their real home later on. And as 15 said, it's at least a great way to get some practice on some turf before playing the turf teams.
I guarantee you the single most important reason they are using field turf instead of grass is so they can host concerts and other events at the stadium and not have to worry about the field getting torn to shreds.
Dis dis so damn much dis the fiasco with the RioT pitch lately makes you wonder how much DLH was like "******** that"
