And a video - "as cool as the other side of the pillow" Ledezma gets his first professional goal to give @RealMonarchs the lead. 🙌 #USL #SLCvRGV pic.twitter.com/OxSt9wbm4t— USL Championship (@USLChampionship) June 5, 2018
The assist was even better! Although, the defending (in particular, #4) that led to the Monarchs guy getting the ball was atrocious.

All these years I did not know what the verb voice was like. I just assumed he kept his mussels, speed, a finger wave, and a strong NO do all the talking
Mark Briggs is still listed as Head Coach in every place I've looked, including the official staff directory on RSL.com. I was surprised to learn (or be reminded is probably more accurate) that he has only suspended. I understand a suspension while you are investigating abuse allegations, but it seems he pretty clearly defrauded the team via the terms of his contract, and that's grounds for a quick firing.
What do you know. Right as everyone has started trashing the Monarchs, they go out and make a signing that I really don't mind at all. He's now the youngest player on the Monarchs. More of this, please.
At least this is how it should be. Get young players that might have a chance of moving up to the senior team.
Interesting news. Utah prosecutor has dropped all 4 charges against Mark Briggs, coach of USL's Real Monarchs, stemming from domestic assault case, his attorney says. "I'd expect he'd be back" as coach, Greg Skordus says. #rsl #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) August 22, 2018
NCAA logic: "You let a booster buy you a taco? You're done for the year." "You covered up for your assistant while he was beating his wife? Nice bro!" <fist bumps on their way out of the office>
I would question this logic. Coaching a minor league soccer team that draws around 5,000 fans does not carry the same gravitas as coaching Ohio State. "Maybe" if we were discussing Wittingham would the suggestion that political forces led to overlooking a domestic violence charge make some sense here. With that being said, ask any divorce attorney and they will tell you that it is extremely common for these sorts of charges to arise when there is a breakup or divorce, after the fact, to put one party in a stronger negotiating position. I will clarify here that I have no knowledge as to whether these claims had merit. For the sake of everyone involved, i hope that they did not.
I can understand this. My coworker's ex-wife recently accused him of molesting their daughter. It wasn't true and would've ruined his life. Lucky for him the charge got dropped. Ex's be crazy.
that's cool guys, except this piece of trash actually did abuse and I don't give a ******** if he's at Ohio State or Herriman High, it's sad to see such a pathetic course of action for those that covered for him. They gave the death penalty to SMU for paying players to play a stupidly dangerous game. Meanwhile programs like PSU are cruising along. PLEASE don't victim blame/shame here. Yes, it happens that false claims are made. Yes, some people have really crazy and problematic reactions to emotional situations. But to sweep accusations under the rug because of it is a dangerous reaction.
Oh, I didn't mean for my response to be taken that way. My bad. I was saying I can understand that line of thought, not that I agree with it. Abuse shouldn't be tolerated in any form, especially domestic abuse. If the accusations are correct, and I assume they are based on the hush money paid, then I think Mark should be gone. Abuse is tolerated far too often in the sports world and there should be a harder stance on it. Athletes and coaches are protected by a legal system that should be protecting the victim. I'm also not a believer in second chances for athletes.
IF the abuse took place (and payment of hush money does not prove it took place; it proves that someone did not want the allegation in the public eye) I agree 100% that there is no room in the organization for that person. Ever. The Ohio State coach should have been gone years ago. Urban really screwed up. I do not have enough information to know whether DeLoy screwed up as well.
Thank God. I already have a hard enough time going to Monarchs games out in Herriman, but with Briggs at the helm, I had that much more against attending.
I wonder if he was shown the door and given a big hint that he should just leave. I also wonder if the Monarchs hadn't been doing as well as they are right now, if he would have been re-instated as coach.
