I don't usually do it, but since there's some news that JL will start Navas ahead of Tibo i added a poll to see who RMBS thinks should start.

Looks like Modric is on the bench again. It could be consistent with the reasoning that the players who had more of a pre-season start.

We usually start season rough. Let's hope at least this year we can not do that.

¡VAMOS EQUIPO! Let's start on the right foot against what should be a pretty decent side this season.

I would rather JL just give Courtois the #1 we know he'll eventually get. The "competition" or "fitness" bits almost seems like JL is scared to take the #1 away from Keylor. We didn't pay 35me for the best GK of the World Cup to be a backup.

He is showing respect. There is no reason to bench Keylor for a keeper who is only 5 inch taller but not better...when Navas starts commiting silly errors like Casillas used to make then he can be benched.
If he does not start Tibo it also shows we didnt really need a new keeper for this season and that we only bought him because he was cheap and as a future replacement for Keylor..

What has Courtois shown in the past seasons to deserve to walk into the starting XI over Navas?

The signing makes sense in so many levels for us, it was a great coup in his current market but whoever is afraid of potential Navas blunders as a merit to bench him hasn’t been paying much attention to Courtois for the past seasons.

Its the headlines and incessant camera shots after Navas concedes I'd like to avoid. I never thought we needed Tibo right away and was in favor of giving Navas one more year or 2 while developing Lunin to take over.

Do you truly believe Tibo is for the future and not now?

What did Navas show in the past for us to buy a new GK of Tibo's caliber when Keylor could have been #1 for a few more years? Lets not be delusional. We didn't buy someone like Tibo for him to take over in a few years. He is here to be our #1.

Navas was also the best keeper in the 2014 WC after Neuer and also the best keeper in la Liga the prior season with Levante... while Casillas was having a stinker.. He did not come in and started over Casillas in his first season here.

Yes but Maybe not this season though..
Last I checked in the game against Atletico Navas had the #1 Jersey and Courtois has been given the #22 or 27.. I

:ROFLMAO: You know I don't mean jersey #s. Tibo wore #13 at Chelsea. Didn't mean he was 13th choice :p

I think Navas had as many bad games as he had good ones last season.there's certainly a decline.

Different point of view and different way of rating keepers.
You gave a bad game to Navas against Atletico and I didn’t . To me and to all Bein commentators those goals had nothing to do with Navas, they were great goals and defensive errors.
We will see this season if it was due to bias or if your goal keeper rating is consistent when we see Courtois concede rocket goals that go past his shoulders, head or under his legs, which happens to him quite often.

Casillas is obviously a special case. Can't compare that to Keylor or expect the same for him.

Shouldn’t performance be the ultimate guide? I dont get it.
Navas should also be a special case as being the only keeper in recent history to win three consecutive Champions league finals and to never lose a knockout tie.

Courtois is simply the better GK, it's the easiest decision JL has to make TBH. Navas is (very) inconsistent. We probably kept him, because the elite GKs were unavailable and he's good enough to bridge the period in between. Now, we have an elite GK and JL should make a decision and make Courtois number 1 ASAP and be done with it!

The season hasn't even started and I already want to vomit every time I see a Courtois vs. Navas debate.
