Huh. How is it better? We didn’t need the goal today. We needed it on Saturday. But anyway.... hindsight is 20/20 etc. We dominated today. Team is reacting to Julen in the best possible way. And to think we can still get better.
No hindsight.. many of us were asking for Mariano sub that match and questioned why he wasn't brought on after the result.
Lopetegui start 10/10. Team looks perfect so far, ball movement, players, ball control, a lot of chances, just need to take those chances. Hope Mariano can even start on weekend, why not? And Asensio.. dude playing perfect, still no goals or assists in CL/SPain.
Clean sheet, 3 goals, playing like a solid fluid team. This just seems too good to be true. I'm starting to think Ronaldo leaving has had a very positive affect on this team.
To be fair, Roma were hanging on the ropes by that point, while Athletic were fighting for their life. If anything Roma were just finished from a certain point on, just couldn't follow anymore.
Again - a joy to watch our games. Team is playing such a beautiful and diversified football and at the same time dominating football. I get it that JL was very nervous as this was very important match for him, but Real was playing well and the result was positive. I hope we don't miss the calmness of Zidane no matter what because I think this was the key for this team to perform in big matches.
Yeah, I really like him, and what he offers fills some of the gaps in our squad, but I would probably never sub him in if we were chasing a match.
Enjoyable game overall. Mariano golazo was cherry on top. As for not so great... Marcelo and that left flank will be a massive liability this season.
6 - Mariano Diaz has scored six goals for Real Madrid from just nine shots on target in all competitions and he has scored with his first attempt in the Champions League. Phenomenon. pic.twitter.com/oEnKuhn4wW— OptaJose (@OptaJose) September 19, 2018
Team is improving every game: - our pressing is already miles ahead of what it was under Zizou or Carlo ; - we’re playing a much more collective brand of football ; .....still quite a few defensive lapses. Overall really enjoyable football!!
And once again, Bale manages to get on the stat sheet while also getting subbed early for rest. Lopetegui has managed him perfectly.
Really enjoying the football we're playing at the moment. Luka, Isco, Kroos, and Asensio are all just magicians. A real treat to the eyes. Our team feels like it has the clearest footballing philosophy in the longest time. I really enjoy these extra layers that Lopetegui has brought into our game, like the CBs getting involved more, playing long balls from Ramos, and the quick interplay in midfield. All just superb. Even when we didn't beat Athletic, it was an immensely enjoyable game.
Mariano is the " little engine who could". His tenacity is incredible. Just hoping Lope sees the value. p.s: Wait, is this the same Roma which fcked Barca over last season????
Real Madrid today beat a record held by Tottenham, who also went 42 European games between 1961 and 1984 without failing to score at White Hart Lane, a run that was eventually broken by... guess who?... Real Madrid in a 1-0 victory in London in 1985. pic.twitter.com/mh7SCeXWWu— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) September 19, 2018
What is even more impressing than technically basically perfect strike is his movement. Holding depth, followed by lateral run and then 180 degree body turn towards the goal allowing him to receive the ball and exploit that depth... Finally proper CF movement. How have i missed this.
JL what a coach. Can't wait to see how this team will be in one year. As expected, we play much better football without Ronaldo.
Wonderful performance. So happy for Mariano. This guy is a striker. The definition of a striker. Just looking for goal all the time and at the smallest opportunity. Love this guy. Love this team
