Watching the highlights on YouTube and slowing it down to 0.25x speed - it really looks like Gonzalez, as he's going behind Shinyashiki, catches Shinyashiki's right leg and causes the right leg to kick into the left, leading to Shinyashiki going down. It's easier to spot on the first replay (wider angle) and you really have to slow down the video to spot it, but I think that it's either the right call or not clear / obviously wrong, and I think the fact that VAR didn't even call that one down makes me think that either they spotted it right away as well or Bazakos told them what he saw and they confirmed it.

As for the non-PK call on the other end, I'm torn. On the one hand, the way these things normally play out is that if the player takes a shot and is then fouled by a player attempting to block the shot, the foul usually isn't called because the attacking player had their chance. On the other hand, it's a kick at chest level which ends up hitting the LA player in the head. I'm certainly not going to complain about the outcome, but I was definitely surprised that Bazakos stuck with his original call after VAR called it down.

With so much drama against L-A-G
    It's kinda hard bein' Shinyashiki
    But he, somehow, some way
Keep comin' up with funky ass dives like every single game
May have "tripped" a little something against the G's

And, make a few mad as he breeze, through

Two in a row and the party's still jumpin'

    'Cause Ibra gone home

They got bitches’ in their dressin’ room not getting’ it done
and, they ain't leavin’ with 3 in the bag
So what you wanna do, sheeeit
I got a pocket full of dives and my homeboys do too
So turn off the lights and close their playoff doors
But (but what) we don't love them Gals, yeah!
So we gonna smoke an ounce to this
G's suck, goes down, while the “Pids bounce to this

Seriously...... I detest and condone ANY diving but..... I detest the Galaxy and all their little divas even more. So I can turn a blind eye and make an exception for Shinyashiki. :D

I actually like the Galaxy, in part because I've loved watching big stars like Beckham, Donovan, Cobi Jones, etc... and in part because I like original clubs over the newer FC, United, City type clubs. But I am finding the failure of this team funny, especially after Zlatan's remarks about it all being about the play-oiffs.

Oh... don't be confused.....I hate the bastards because I'm jealous of their long success and how thier FO usually has their shit together from 1st team to USL to youth team :D

Well done. May I recommend it be performed in the style of The Gourds remake?

Not indirect if it makes contact. And a direct kick is a PK if it happens in the box -- pretty black and white (but that is for a general case and from a guy that hasn't been 'allowed' to see the match yet thanks to the joint suckiness of ATT/Directv and Altitude).

The lion himself won't even argue that the contact on Rolf was a penalty, can we move on?

One thing to notice about ref calls is the correlation with the amount of possession. When the ball is always in your end, the ref has to make multiple calls. Sometimes he'll blow it or possibly give you a soft call.

The Rapids are finally giving themselves a chance to be on the end of a good call.

Wow, you are absolutely right. As a matter of fact when slowing it down to 0.2 5X speed you can actually see Shinyashiki's right foot get clipped because it get's jerked to the left slightly. It's funny, because I could not notice it until it was slowed down to the speed you recommend.

I thought the same thing. Plus #27 is grabbing Shinyashiki who is running past him. You see that get called as impeding in the midfield. Soft but not outrageous.

I’m in San Diego for a work training event, so I got to watch the game with LA homers commentating. First of all, I didn’t tune in until about 2min before bassets goal, do y’all about timing.

Second of all....I left the tv on in the background for their postgame show. They continued to whine and complain for the next 39min straight. They were absolutely livid.

    It was absolutely hilarious :ROFLMAO:

The conversation one day in our house one day was about how we can't believe the Rapids won't be in the playoffs because from some point in June they have often looked like a team that would make it. And they sure as heck haven't given up on the season. You can see that in the passion they have on the pitch. It's wonderful!

He walked in between 2 defenders and got tripped as he went by. Right in front of us. Easy call. He’s not afraid to run at the D. Something I haven’t seen around here in a while. Excellent find by Rapids.

For me the man of the match was Clint Irwin. He stoned the Galaxy several times which seemed to set the tone for the defense. But it wasn't just goalkeeping, the back line covered very well for each other and were in position to protect the goal line when Irwin did parry the ball.

Early on the Galaxy high pressure was making it very difficult for the Rapids to find a rhythm. At the same time, the Rapids were patient and didn't allow themselves to get frustrated. At the same time, it looked like the Galaxy would somehow get a goal.

How many corners did the Rapids get? Most of the time when Price hit the ball I would find myself stating "great ball!" But time after time the Galaxy had players in the right place to challenge for and win a header. ironically, it was a Price free lick that found an open Cole Bassett for the first score.

Does Shinyashiki love playing the #9 role? This match and the previous one he has really been a a dynamo! Running at multiple defenders, checking back for the ball, and helping to hold possession. When Casey was in charge he was playing wide and had more defensive responsibilities. When he's at the 9 he can really go at the defense.

It's nice to not have to mention Zlatan until now. He's big and he's crafty. I didn't realize how big he is. When he was standing next to Tommy Smith, Smith looked small.

How about Abubakar playing outside back for the first time in his professional carrier? Not bad.
