Watching the highlights on YouTube and slowing it down to 0.25x speed - it really looks like Gonzalez, as he's going behind Shinyashiki, catches Shinyashiki's right leg and causes the right leg to kick into the left, leading to Shinyashiki going down. It's easier to spot on the first replay (wider angle) and you really have to slow down the video to spot it, but I think that it's either the right call or not clear / obviously wrong, and I think the fact that VAR didn't even call that one down makes me think that either they spotted it right away as well or Bazakos told them what he saw and they confirmed it. As for the non-PK call on the other end, I'm torn. On the one hand, the way these things normally play out is that if the player takes a shot and is then fouled by a player attempting to block the shot, the foul usually isn't called because the attacking player had their chance. On the other hand, it's a kick at chest level which ends up hitting the LA player in the head. I'm certainly not going to complain about the outcome, but I was definitely surprised that Bazakos stuck with his original call after VAR called it down.
