As has been discussed on the catch-all thread, both squads will be depleted due to national team call-ups. Looks like Fraser will get a chance to see how Shinyashiki and Jackson perform in a match. Yes, Niki played last Saturday, but not for an extended period and Andre didn't see the pitch at all. Oh, Acosta will be available for this one. It will be interesting to see the formation and tactics. Does he prefer a 3-5-2? Seems that if you aren't at Dick's your chances of seeing the match are low.
Just a reminder of all the players out on International Duty: Rapids: Kamara Rubio Bassett Anderson Rwatubyaye Sounders: Xavier Arreaga (DP) Jordy Delem Joeivn Jones Jordan Morris Nouhou Tolo Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez Cristian Roldan (DP) Raul Ruidiaz Brad Smith Gustav Svensson Aside from Kamara and Rubio, all of our regular starters are available for selection (unless I am mistaken). Ref Assignments: This year, Kevin Stott has averaged 3.25 yellow cards given per game, 0.25 red cards per game, and 24.5 fouls called per game (sourced using data from http://proreferees.com/stats/referee-stats/) Viewing: As far as watching it without being at the stadium, I would highly recommend signing up for a free trial of ESPN+ and use a VPN to mask your location. Living in AZ, I use ESPN+ all the time, and it works like a charm. I have known several people to use VPN's to mask their IP and appear in a different location. They use this with Netflix for example and get entirely new selections of shows/movies appearing when their IP comes from different countries. This service should also bypass the geoblocking of ESPN+. I think Express VPN is one of the better ones out there, but I'm not sure if they do a free trial. Buying an entire month of Express VPN services would still be cheaper than buying a ticket to the game (they have a one month purchase option of $13). ESPN+ is $5 a month once your free trial expires. If you do some digging, I know there are free trials for a lot of the VPN services out there, I just haven't used many others than Express VPN, so I can't make any other recommendations.
Injury Report: OUT: Ford, Wynne QUESTIONABLE: Howard As far as VPN's go, I've had difficulty trying to VPN in to ESPN+ from an international location. When I was in London even though my VPN was set to the U.S. I couldn't watch. But I was successful while in Boise using a VPN to change my location to a different place in the U.S. and watching.
Tim is Questionable on the injury report this week, and now US Soccer announced their honoring him in a pregame ceremony before USA-Mexico in NY. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict Irwin gets the start tomorrow night. Tim Howard will be honored in a pregame ceremony ahead of USA vs. Mexico tonight. This is part of a new initiative by U.S. Soccer to honor USMNT & USWNT players with 100+ caps and appear on the roster of two World Championships. pic.twitter.com/sNoWistRtL— USMNT Only (@usmntonly) September 6, 2019
You mean... you don't think he's going to get on a plane to East Rutherford NJ to be honored in a pregame ceremony that's scheduled for tonight, then get on another plane back to Colorado to play against Seattle tomorrow?
Keep in mind that like anything else, if the VPN is free you're the product. The two most common being datamining or using your bandwidth in a p2p network. Hoping the Rapids go full Dalek on the depleted Sounders Now is the chance.
So ESPN+ will black it out and Altitude is not carried by anybody and can't be purchased independently? First Hudson, then the plague, now this. What a season. I'm going to CU - Nebraska so was planning on TV'ing this one, or at least did not want to commit to going ahead of time. hmm.
One thing I discovered is that ESPN+ only checks your location when you start the stream. I was using TunnelBear in Boise and I ran through their free trial 500MB before halftime. But it just kicked me off and the stream kept going.
Sure 2-1 win sounds good. Hoping I feel like rallying and go, but I don’t know. Weird with the international break too.
It ain’t over yet. 1. Hudson 2. The Plague. ( are we sure this is no longer an issue?) 3. Altitude gives the fans their middle finger. Just guesses.... 4. Major hailstorm in the middle of the first half caused major damage to most cars in the lots. 5. Game is not postponed but restarts 3 hours later with 1000 buts in seats. 6. A mysterious fan streaks across the field screaming obscenities halting play around midnight and is promptly escorted off in handcuffs by the police. 7. 9NEWS reports on Sunday that the mysterious fan was Hudson who is still furious over his unjust firing due to only having garbage players on his team. 8. KSE decide to ban all media from any future games due to their unfair and fake news on the Rapids. ... It can get worse
Well, i would guess Tim won’t be playing this weekend. He seems pretty happy in NJ: Can’t say I blame him. He’s had a legendary career, and is getting a legendary welcome by the fans
1-0 win, goal by Lewis. I think both teams are going to suffer offensively with their international absences, but the Rapids have their full defense available while the Sounders are signing emergency callups from the USL for their left back. That will be the difference in what will be a low-scoring game. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2019/09/bomb-cyclone-reschedule.html
With Lewis and Nicholson should be able to give the Flounders' back line serious issues with their pace. It will also be an opportunity for Shinyashiki to show Fraser he deserves time on the pitch. So I think the Rapids can put in more than one goal in this match.
I'm going to both. Boy do I hope the Buffs win in regulation so I can get home by bike and then head out to DSGP - there's always a ton of traffic on US 36 following a CU football game.
I'm officially making the trip down tomorrow for my first match. It's up in the air whether my better half will be joining me as she is sick but I look forward to meeting some of you. Is the best way to get tickets through the Centennial 38 site? Also, which section is best? 117 or 118?
Will be interesting how Fraser deals with Kamara's absence. In the past the Rapids have relied a lot on his holdup play.
Fraser hasn't had him on the team, so probably doesn't really know the difference. I suspect he will have some combination of Shin, Lewis, Nicholsen, and maybe Jackson involved. Which would be interesting - Lewis/Nicholsen providing speed and mayhem, Shin running straight at the D. Not really sure on Jackson, but he showed a bit of promise when here (as well as MANY rookie mistakes) and has been tearing up the USL. Frankly, I am surprised how interested I am in this game given all the first team players that are out (on both sides). Looking forward to being in my normal 108, row 6 seats! rod.
C38 cuts off online sales the night before the game and then sells tickets at the tailgate. They have all of 117 and 108 and some of 116. 117 is a terrace (no seats) behind the south goal while 116 is the section next to it with bench seating. 108 is on the east sideline midway between the box and the midfield stripe and is more expensive with individual seats.
Kamara's holdup play has been critical this season and in general when he's not on the pitch they Rapids have had a hard time maintaining possession especially when they are all in on the defending. However, in the Red Bull match last Saturday there were long stretches of very good possession by the Rapids.
