Given the lost season we are now in, I am OK with them giving him a little time to be ready. Having said that, I do expect him to put in some games so he gets some experience with MLS games. rod.
Damn, I almost forgot about him and this is recent history. I think that would be more like if Aigner only played the rest of this season and had a change of heart. BTW anyone, how do you pronounce Aigner?
I tried to use this material early in the thread, but it seems I still have a steep ascent to get some traction.
Probably the right move now that he's signed but I question the plan in signing a player in the summer window who can't get on the field before September.
Realistically, the only way Aigner would have made a difference this season would have been if the Rapids were already good and he would have been the last piece.
Agreed, but of course, that's not the line the Rapids were spinning to their fans during the transfer window
Just one of the reasons I "opted out" of season tickets for next season. I am tired of being jerked around while the Rapids spiral to the bottom of the table. Did someone post that the price of some season tickets is going up? Egregious. Maybe Pádraig Smith gets that there needs to be big changes with personnel, but the business end doesn't have a clue about how to appropriately interact with season ticket holders.
We're hearing it wrong. It's different's maker. This different's maker is completely different from the last different's maker we brought in, and so on ad infinitum.
So to summit up, last year was a fluke, the Rapids had a fall this year, plan to take a zero next year, and the fans are screwed.
They gotta go take a hike with these. But there is a nagging fear that Smith has plateau'd and will not longer be able to take us back to the peaks.
Sorry for the redundant posting. The Rapids are chock full of ineptitude. The crux of the problem is that they can't bottleneck, and then they crack under pressure before stemming the attack. They lack a dynamic attack and rarely send a double runner toward the opposing goal. Their placement is poor, and they seem lost on the pitch. The losses are a real drag - screamers, really - and leave us with hang dog looks.
Landed in Munich this morning for a long weekend. The taxi driver pointed out the Bayern Munich stadium (looks like a huge puffy-jacket to me). When I asked about 1860, he was visibly upset with the whole situation. He wasn't sure how Aigner's game would translate to the US (his perspective is that we play a "rough" game). In true German fashion, he also thought that a lower tier player would easily be one of the best in the US league.
So, reading between the lines, Aigner is a 9_$$Y but even though he's a wimp. We are a fly by night hack league and Aigner is so superior to anyone playing here that he will shine like a super power player.
