Consider the number of headed goals, aerial jump, goals in important matches & technique ( accuracy, diving headers, assists etc)
Need time to think of a full twenty but I'll offer a nomination: Uwe Seeler's equalizer, 1970 World Cup v England.
Is this about headed goals or a player who had/have best heading technique based on goals, assists, etc?
Of All time players like Pele and Santillana have to be on this list. Palermo, Zamorano, Cristiano would be on this list as well and Ramos
Here in Peru, one that is usually designated as legendary at historical and world level in that area is the 1940's and 1950's striker Valeriano López, while at international stage is more famous the Ecuadorian Alberto Spencer. German Oliver Bierhoff looked like a specialist in modern times.
Alan Shearer Tim Cahill Henrik Larsson Gabriel Batistuta Didier Drogba Patrick Kluivert Michael Ballack David Trezeguet Oliver Bierhoff Cristiano Ronaldo Fernando Morientes Nemanja Vidic John Terry Karl-Heinz Riedle Pelé Miroslav Klose Sergio Ramos Iván Zamorano Hernán Crespo Mário Jardel Rank them in order.
Some of the best of all time could be: Sandor Kocsis, Jonh Charles, Dixie Dean, Valeriano López, Alberto Spencer, Arsenio Erico, Uwe Seeler, Telmo Zarra, Oliver Bierhoff, Martín Palermo, Iván Zamorano, Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao, Edson Arantes “Pelé”, Carlos Alonso “Santillana”, Joe Jordan......
José Parodi was said to have the best aerial game of the French League in the 60's. First link is his wiki page. Here's a nice article with great pictures.
Here comes Basile Boli : (it is clear on the replay that not only Rijkaard but also Baresi pull his shirt. he still manages to take that step back and boom, goal) three days later...
Olivier giroud 2014/15 19 goals in 1 season https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/oli...aten/spieler/82442/saison/2014/wettbewerb/GB1 C.Ronaldo 2014/15 18 headers in 1 season
Letchkov scored a famous one at the U.S World Cup but I think that Martin Dahlin also scored a couple with the head at this occasion... ... 2 against Russia and 1 against Saudi Arabia for a 4 goals tally (Cameroon)
Talking Dahlin-Andersson and Cardozo-Santa Cruz... ... Papin & Cantona then. Scored many headers, diving headers etc. but also were good at deflecting the ball. A couple of famous examples where Papin deflects the ball with his head to get a teammate to score : 0:55 2:50
Using that logic you might also exclude basically all the other players already mentioned... I'm just saying he's good enough to be compared to some of the names seen here. Not only because of his stats btw but also because of the tactical use of his aerial game. Few players are able to deflect the ball as he does to setup teammates. If we include defenders then Laurent Blanc might be picked as well.
It's the only logic that makes sense You should take into account the quantity The quality/variety And you should also take into account the stage Guys like Pele,Cristiano and kocsis have 100 plus That alone puts them on a pedestal Now we can talk about the stage aswell CRonaldo scored headers in a European championship semi final vs Edwin van der sar In a champions league final vs Peter cech In copa del Rey final vs Barcelona 10/11 In a copa del rey final vs Atletico Madrid 12/13 In a champions league quarter final vs Roma 07/08 Pele in a world cup final vs dino Zoff(it was iconic and glorious to be frank) I'm not aware of other big stages but im sure There are many to be frank Olivier giroud,bierhoff....peter crouch they excelled in domestic leagues When was their aerial ability a decisive factor on really big stages? Lets call a spade a spade and put the nostalgia to one side Sandor kocsis Cristiano Ronaldo They tick the boxes Honourable mentions to Gerd Muller and Pele who just fall just behind due to physical limitations The aerial ability of Ramos is a bit overrated Imo http://www.pesmitidelcalcio.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3035 For one i wouldn't say he was markedly better than branislav ivanovic(who is underrated) http://www.pesmitidelcalcio.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=7712
