Pro/rel probably wasn't the #1 problem with this offer. It was giving league media control to BeIn, and putting them and in charge of league scheduling and marketing. Also giving up all future expansion fee revenue and changing the business model of every single team. (Not to mention potential future growth that could actually make this number look too small.) And of course the fact that they weren't even allowed to make a deal in the first place. Meaning this was just Silva grandstanding and trying to grab some attention.
and it was a very good season for Dayton and I suspect that DCFC will now knock off Ann Arbor in an upset and proceed to the NPSL semis
"In my opinion, the club is so ridiculous. Instead of building a team in a sensible way, we are looking for old vacuum cleaners." Is that an Adu Sucks joke?
VAR comes into play this weekend. This is a seminar given by Howard Webb explaining it from A to Z. It's an hour long, but I highly recommend any serious soccer fan watch it, as (A)it's fascinating, and (B)the sport is going to be affected by this for years to come in all competitions, so we might as well learn about it.
Yeah, I've seen the video on the MLS site and YouTube, but never bothered to watch. Watching now, and it's actually pretty good.
Yeah, should've traded Mensah and the top allocation spot to Barca for him. We probably have enough GAM and TAM saved up to buy down his contract.
I really think Precourt needs to take a long hard look at himself and the ambitions of this franchise. A sad day for crew fans.
Don't be stupid. Obviously we can't sign Neymar now. But like, why didn't we make an offer to 15 or 16 year old Neymar? What did we have to lose? Where were our scouts? Why can't we have nice things?
This refers to Derek's post a few up: Some sort of MLS fan voting for the "Community MVP." https://mlsworkscmvp.com Did anyone know about this? Who is this person? Between this voting and the fan voting for the ASG players, the FO needs to do a much, much better job of getting the fans involved. I can't even remember the last time I got an email from my FO rep.
Anyone else wondering where all the rumors of who we are going after and making a push to sign in the transfer window are? Top spot in allocation order and we are sitting on our hands?
I'm sure we'll be able to complain about it just fine when the time comes without watching this propaganda. But really, I fully anticipate at least one fan base to explode this weekend after a VAR ruling. Only question will be whether it's because a call is correctly changed (HOW DARE THEY) or whether something that is unreviewable is not reviewed (I BET THEY'D REVIEW IT IF WE WERE LA). My money is on Columbus or Orlando, as those are frequently the two fan bases who seem to complain the most.
Cautions aren't reviewable and apparently a player making the "air-box" motion is a cautionable offense.
Seeing as we had 3 (4?) red cards overturned on appeal in one season, a lot of complaining can sometimes be justified.
A 2-3 minute delay in the game is perfect for the US viewing audience. You could fit in 6 commercials in that time and make a run to get some food or something. Well done MLS!!!
Cautionable offenses... aggressive attitude, inflammatory behavior, or taunting is Fakes an injury or exaggerates the seriousness of an injury Interferes with or prevents the goalkeeper from releasing the ball from the hands into play Verbally or through action disputes or shows contempt for an official’s decision Kicks or throws the ball away or holds the ball to prevent a free kick restart by an opponent So we just add this to the list of cautionable offenses they rarely call.
My guess it'll be called pretty often. For about two weeks. Because they're all going to stress it to try to send a message. But like any other behavior they want to crack down on, they'll probably wind up relaxing after a bit.
Week 1 all refs call every infringement Week 2 some refs call the infringement (to big teams benefit), pundits and fans cry foul Week 3 nothing called
