I respect what you're saying about Jones, and he has a good competitive fire. But the interview was way too "me, me, me, me" "I don't get enough respect" - he's reading too much of his press and I don't want to hear that he doesn't like it. Just play, and talk about your play and your team, but I simply don't care that other players are more beloved. Winning will cure a lot of that.

 

Dan Loney agrees with me, anyway.

"I’d also prefer it if the best player on the team didn’t give podcast interviews where “My talent entitles me to be a locker room cancer” isn’t the subtext AT BEST."

 

With that attitude, the only thing that would endear him to fans is results. And we are still waiting for anything like that here.

 

Leave the guy alone - he's a superstar. Don't believe me? Just ask him: "When we play the big tournament, I am almost always the best player on the field for this country."
We just don't always notice how great he is because of our little US brains.

Jelle van Damme joined the LA Galaxy before the 2016 season, and it only took him a few weeks to make it clear that he was one of the best defenders in MLS. He became the Galaxy’s rock at the back, and when he showed up in 2017 for his second year with the team, he did so with a new responsibility — captain.

It only took van Damme a year to become such a part of the fabric of the Galaxy, and a man the rest of the team looked to, that he was handed the captain’s armband. But it’s not just the team that loves van Damme. The Belgian loves the team and, especially, the city of Los Angeles.

It just so happens that van Damme loves tattoos, so with his love for his new city pretty well ingrained, it’s no wonder he wanted a tattoo to represent that love. And so he got one, inking the infamous Dodgers interlocking L and A onto his thigh.

It's hard to hate on Zardes even when he isn't playing well.

 

Touch is bad and scoring touch non-existent. At the same time, his runs open spaces for Gio and so he is contributing. But this has to be driving him nuts.

 

Prior to this game, it seemed like he was getting out muscled or out jumped on every long air ball. The San Jose game was the first time I saw him play these balls somewhat effectively by flicking the ball on especially to Allesandrini.

 

He seemed really strong in our last game, great hands. This is quite a shame.

 

We will see Landon at the 2018 World Cup....sorta.

Think that's a decent team. I enjoy Strong's calls and Stu and Landon together make an insightful pair since they know the players and coach.

 

Very interesting, and I look forward to that team as well. They will need some polishing and Landon is still quite inexperienced. I hope they really focus their coverage decisions and for game day make it their own unique style.

 

Interesting interview with Cole from SI. I really, really wanted to hate him when he came. His best days are behind him but he's engaged, loving his time here, and still one of the best outside backs in the league.

Agreed. And I am sure not the way he wanted his career here to end. But better that he retire than hang on to a roster slot and salary cap space when we need to go through a thorough major remake.
