I'm challenged to support one sports obsession let alone two! I guess it helps not to have two teenagers in the house huh? Hey who was that keeper on hamilton's teAm? I couldnt catch his name.

That's ' Tubes' (from SoccerAM in the UK The shirt was very difficult for him to wear...he's a Chelsea fan
Great. Justice. He must've been pretty damn stupid/drunk. I've been to a lot of matches (NYRB, AFC, Int'l Friendlies, Gold Cup, etc... often with my kids) and i'm happy to say i've never encountered anyone as vile as those Toronto dudes.
Ox is a real thinker especially when it comes to sports and technique. (I'm recalling those videos of him with visiting ruggers and NFL'ers) He's got a great attitude. I really hope he can improve his form and consistency enough to be a lock in our squad, maybe even our XI.
Arsenal players have been allocated only 2 tickets each for the Cup Final. Any extra's they are advised to buy a box at £17k privately. LOL
ENGLAND LEGEND HONOURED BY H.R.H. QUEEN ELIZABETH II And I don't mean Frank Lampard ! Our very own Casey Stoney has been awarded the M.B.E. for her services to club & country ! http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/12/casey-stoner-england-womens-football-mbe Oi .... Frank...... .
A few tidbits from a recent walkaround of the new & old stadiums... There was a so-so artwork hanging on a wall at the Grove, and for some reason I read the artist's name: Bob van Persie... hello? Given RVP having so ungloriously skipped town, you woulda thought they'd have removed this a few years ago... After the tour, I showed my son what's become of Highbury. Asked the fitness center guy near the old Northbank if I could walk in the gate and he said "quick, run in after it shuts!". (Later I noticed that the Clock End gate was wide open constantly so I didn't even need to sneak in that way) We walked all around what used be the pitch, posed for a snapshot at the center spot: Then walked in a door near where the old dugouts used to be (also unlocked), walked through the ground floor hallway and up into the marble hall. The guards looked BUG EYED at me. To put them at ease I said "an old fan, just revisiting his past" to which they chided me with "this is NOT appropriate sir, this is a private residence!". (my son was mortified) It was all I could do to say "if you want this building to be a secure residence, you might want to lock your doors" but I bit my tongue. And snapped this pic on the way out
Oh and one other thing... I was quite surprised to see the banners of at least three American supporters groups hanging so prominently inside the stadium: Arsenal America in the clock end, Philly Gooners in the northbank corner, and Charm City Gooners in between (I think). Do they really let them hang there semi-permanently I wonder?
That's some good stuff there Rich. I'm so chuffed for you. Did you get to spend much time in the museum next to the stadium ? I found myself lost in time there on my first visit, and the custodian on duty (about 10 years, or so, older than me) could see how much it meant to me. Even though he was obviously ready to 'knock-off ' for the day, he said... and this might not be verbatim, but... "Take your time mate..I do this job because I love it, and The Arsenal, and it really doesn't matter if I get home on time or not....... the misses will still burn my dinner either way " As he locked up, I asked if I could take him and his wife for dinner on me, which he declined. I'll never forget him.
Didn't get to see the museum this time. Time constraints and the mood of my son prevented it. But I spent a good bit of time last on my last visit in 2008. Your story about the custodian is... priceless.
As I unpack, I found one more tidbit from my time in London... At the hotel there was this BT Sport magazine lying around, trying to promote the upcoming EPL season in their beautiful Ultra HD: And I found their Arsenal page to be surprisingly spot-on: And then an even bigger surprise for us old-timers. Wow! Ouch?:
Happy or not, it is a great match for the third round. I expect we will move forward, but that is why you play the games.
i may be wrong but i'm pretty sure those banners were actually made by the club. which is a shame to me, as i think they look cheaply made. there are plenty of great, less cheap looking banners among the arsenal support which would look much nicer permanently hanging around the stadium.
Here's a photo that I recently 'aged' through editing. It's one of the Royal Arsenal buildings and The Dial Arch Pub in Woolwich. I took the original photo a year ago.
Looks lovely. Woolwich, I guess I should give it a 2nd chance. The only other time I went there was about 1974 when the very first McDonalds opened up in London and IIRC it was in Woolwich. Being starved for a real american burger, we drove down to check it out... sadly it still tasted more like a british beefburger.
