Well if we want to get into the stupidity of all anthems, the toxic nature of nationalism, its use by despots, and its service as cover for regressive economic interests,we can do that. There's certainly a convergence between racism and nationalism.
The S&M vibe is strong with these eses Of all the anti-Kapernick tweets that had families standing for that song in their living rooms, every single one I clicked was white. Spelling smack isn't my thing. But gotta point out that you misspell his name every f#cking time, caraculo.
Then don't quote somebody who is clearly not, and give a generalization. That is being lazy. As for the White/Christian thing, that would have been based on a conversation regarding how the United States was founded (and how the Constitution was written) No I don't. You have not been so clear in the past, and if that is changing, be clearer. Most Whites I know wouldn't miss that song if it was abolished. Of course, I also don't know many nationalists or military people, who tend to have great value in that song. But, I do know a few singers who enjoy the song for the musical challenge of singing it. Though it must be said they also rate other National Anthems higher, such as the Russian one. If posters respond with good post (to you), such as you noted, ignore those that don't (and report as necessary). I listened to some podcast discussing the history of the song, and it is weird how it became the national anthem. I don't remember it in full, but it was strange, push by some PR, and had clear connections with racism. As for standing, that, to me, goes back to the symbol of respect. We stand to honor people all the time, and stand to honor situation all the time. So it is appropriate that Kaepernick, et al, kneel during that song, or at that time, as a message that it does not represent him. If you want a real discussion, this type of added comment is not needed - it is trolling.
Our Dutch Anthem (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilhelmus for an English translation) is from the time we ourselfs were a colony of Spain and before we had any ourselves). It lacks all those things you attach to anthems.
Yeah, there are plenty whites who are more down for the cause than myself. I refrained from burning a u.s. flag downtown because I didn't get enough backup in case of violence, which sadly, I'd have to prepare for. Meanwhile, thousands of caucasians have been gully enough to burn it. Props to em. What's your opinion of roadkit bringing cartels into this. I hate reporting, but I don't want another situation like before where dark knight came and issued suspensions. Alright. Well, Casca knows where I stand on these issues, and now this roadkit guy can be filled in too. I'm not too keen on anything caucasian being used to symbolise this land which belongs to natives. So @roadkit, expect more comments like that when these topics come up. If you're offended, just say why. I'm sure in another forum, a Mexican said "that song is shit", and a user named calleplayera got at him for that. Every song has likers and haters. Me vale pura madre, wey You tell me. Anyway, in lieu of abolishing the song altogether, a compromise of rotating it with the Spanish version and the Black Anthem, would not be a bad idea. Something has to be done, that song does not feel like America in any way, shape or form.
. Because you would be the first to go? I have seen many carded or banned for less. You YOURSELF said most people are indifferent to it, and there are many who like it, and like it being celebrated as Soccer Nutter eluded to earlier. So sorry pal, no thanks on the offer to rotate in with other versions (Black anthem btw???) just because a small group that desires to burn the flag has their panties in a twist. No need to accommodate fools requests. The anthem is viewed by the majority as all-inclusive, and encompasses various parts of our history. I personally don't care if they play it at sporting events, but NOT playing it for the reason of catering fringe idiots is reason enough to play it loud and proud.
Speaking strictly for my share of the peanut gallery, I think you are the naïve one--but he does have an annoying schtick, that's true...
Well, you claim something and there's something contradicting it. This quote from you only shows that misconduct doesnot end up gloryfied in anthems all the time. Unless you prove me wrong and our anthem does contain that, which is then a piece of Nostradamus as the anthem preceeds our rise to global power, I challenge you.
I didn't say anything about the anthem having those words. It's ironic that the tribes destroyed by Boers and Batavia could sing some of the same lyrics to you dear descendants of Wilhelmus.
In his regard, I'd be interested to find out how naive you think I am. But no offense taken, just curious.
Ya me he peleado con hueros sobre estas temas, no estaba de humor para mas rollo. Why did you roll your eyes Nah, I keep it civil, You, on the other hand, crossed the line right here: Wtf is this, you're calling people fools and idiots. This is out of line. You say no thanks, but you don't have a say, the sports leagues do, and mark my words, in a decade from now, teams will drop it, or do something multicultural instead. Do you not know the Black Anthem. Please tell me you're kidding Panties in a twist? You're crossing the line yet again. You were polite in your first response, and now you're acting foolish. Flag burners and multiculturalists are not fools and idiots. Fck off with that, they are what America is, and needs. No, that song is viewed like that by a minority. And within that minority, it's vastly white. The only part of history it encompasses is the War of 1812. Please tell me how that war speaks to the Latin and Black communities. I'll wait. No dude, it has to go. It's an English pub song, so keep it as the New England anthem, but keep it away from the rest of us. A song that reps America has to have soul, and at least some Latin rhythm. Get to know what America is, it seems you don't know. Naive because I feel change will happen (that we can believe in). Well, a LOT has changed in our lifetimes, so we'll see. I'm confident things will be rectified.
Maybe. Maybe everyone in power in the U.S. will be hispanic or indigenous and we'll see how that works out for everyone. I wouldn't hold my breath though.
Well, that's what I was talking about.Your anthem is as toxic to colonized peoples as any other Western anthem
Mmm, you fail again to see the difference with the real toxic anthems. The Dutch anthem could be sung by almost all people in the world as it embodies the longing to justice and freedom. Our history however shows that people once fighting to liberate themselves from the power of a brutal and murderous regime have no hesitation to become one themselves. That's a human trait, not exclusively white human trait. The Indonesians you referred to had/have no problem killing and oppressing the Papua people and no problem murdering and oppressing East Timor for decades and no problem invading the Moluccan Islands when these wanted independency.
The Cinese have/had no problems murdering and oppressing the Uighurs We're a people destroyed': why Uighur Muslims across China are ... https://www.theguardian.com/news/.../why-uighur-muslims-across-china-are-living-in-fe... 7 aug. 2018 - 'We're a people destroyed': why Uighur Muslims across China are living in .... Likewise, people do not use words like “oppression” when talking ... Or the Thibetans. In Myanmar the same thing happens to Rohingyas Burma: Buddhists tell Rohingya Muslims 'leave or we will kill you all ... https://www.independent.co.uk › News › World › Asia 18 sep. 2017 - Thousands of Rohingya Muslims have pleaded for safe passage from two remote Burmese villages cut off by hostile Buddhists and running .. So if you want to be inclusive, state the facts as they are world wide with no complicity of whites whatsoever. Wonder what the anthems of those non white countries contain. My guess those, like almost all anthems world wide, willnot be able to hold a candle to the Dutch one.
This thing, Johannes? No wonder why you made weed legal. William of Nassau, scion Of a Dutch and ancient line, I dedicate undying Faith to this land of mine. A prince I am, undaunted, Of Orange, ever free, To the king of Spain I've granted A lifelong loyalty. I 've ever tried to live in The fear of God's command And therefore I've been driven, From people, home, and land, But God, I trust, will rate me His willing instrument And one day reinstate me Into my government. Let no despair betray you, My subjects true and good. The Lord will surely stay you Though now you are pursued. He who would live devoutly Must pray God day and night To throw His power about me As champion of your right. Life and my all for others I sacrificed, for you! And my illustrious brothers Proved their devotion too. Count Adolf, more's the pity, Fell in the Frisian fray, And in the eternal city Awaits the judgement day. I, nobly born, descended From an imperial stock. An empire's prince, defended (Braving the battle's shock Heroically and fearless As pious Christian ought) With my life's blood the peerless Gospel of God our Lord. A shield and my reliance, O God, Thou ever wert. I'll trust unto Thy guidance. O leave me not ungirt. That I may stay a pious Servant of Thine for aye And drive the plagues that try us And tyranny away. My God, I pray thee, save me From all who do pursue And threaten to enslave me, Thy trusted servant true. O Father, do not sanction Their wicked, foul design, Don't let them wash their hands in This guiltless blood of mine. O David, thou soughtest shelter From King Saul's tyranny. Even so I fled this welter And many a lord with me. But God the Lord did save me From exile and its hell And, in His mercy, gave him A realm in Israel. Fear not 't will rain sans ceasing The clouds are bound to part. I bide that sight so pleasing Unto my princely heart, Which is that I with honor Encounter death in war, And meet in heaven my Donor, His faithful warrior. Nothing so moves my pity As seeing through these lands, Field, village, town and city Pillaged by roving hands. O that the Spaniards rape thee, My Netherlands so sweet, The thought of that does grip me Causing my heart to bleed. A stride on steed of mettle I've waited with my host The tyrant's call to battle, Who durst not do his boast. For, near Maastricht ensconced, He feared the force I wield. My horsemen saw one bounce it Bravely across the field. Surely, if God had willed it, When that fierce tempest blew, My power would have stilled it, Or turned its blast from you But He who dwells in heaven, Whence all our blessings flow, For which aye praise be given, Did not desire it so. Steadfast my heart remaineth In my adversity My princely courage straineth All nerves to live and be. I've prayed the Lord my Master With fervid heart and tense To save me from disaster And prove my innocence. Alas! my flock. To sever Is hard on us. Farewell. Your Shepherd wakes, wherever Dispersed you may dwell, Pray God that He may ease you. His Gospel be your cure. Walk in the steps of Jesu This life will not endure. Unto the Lord His power I do confession make That ne'er at any hour Ill of the King I spake. But unto God, the greatest Of Majesties I owe Obedience first and latest, For Justice wills it so.
I don't think smoking pot will help memorize it. Wonder if it's the longest anthem in existance. At Orange matches we keep it with a couple of lines, otherwise singing it will take longer than the match itself
