He should be given a couple game starts in a row with the starters and see how it pans out. Still not convinced he'd do better than Chicharito but willing to be convinced. Definitely on a streak and Osorio can't ignore that

Jimenez is an overall better striker than Chicharito, but he doesn’t have Chicharito’s luck and positioning.

I’m fine with either one starting for the NT, but I feel a little better with Chicharito.

    Yup

I love Cheech, but he is sometimes useless under Osorio's system.

I just looked it up, they both started against the Germans. Raul on the wing, rather he not play, than be on the wing, dude started Gio and left Vela and Lozano on the bench, smh.

Raul needs to have a good World Cup and get the hell out of Benfica. He needs to go to a team where he can start.

He can’t keep being a bench player.

    Yeah
He's about to turn 27 in May too. He needs to try his luck elsewhere. He can't just wait for that Jonas dude to retire from that two team league.

    I disagree

What other options are there for a safe home? Unless he lands at a big club where he’ll be a target man, he’d have to end up and some mid table club. We don’t want to repeat what Chich is going through.

Jonás isn’t a spring chicken, he’s on the last parts of his career and Benfica has clearly shown interest in keeping Raúl. I’d rather him stay.

Benfica used to play a two striker formation with Jonas and Mitroglou. Mitroglou left this past summer and they gave Seferovic a shot at that position who was a newcomer instead of Raúl. Then they went to a 1 striker formation and never gave Raul a shot. How many starts does he have in the league this year. 1-2?

At almost 27 how many more years does Raul need to wait for Jonas to retire? And even then will he get a chance to start or are they going to sign someone else to start?

Even with Jonás on fire, Raul is still playing. And they’ve rejected offers for Raul, so I don’t see them dumping him by the wayside. Especially with the fan support.

I think the issue is the money in those offers. They bought him for 22 million I believe. That’s why he needs to have a good World Cup so Benfica can get better offers.

Ok, but from who? Where do you want to see him go?

I don’t see a major club going after him, good World Cup or not

This is like the closest anyone has ever come to stopping a Raul pen.

I want to see him go to the BPL only because those teams have the money and I don’t care if it’s a mid table team. He needs to play. Don’t you think 4 years as a backup is too much?

Or Raul can continue to be complacent and just stay at Benfica and continue to play 10-20 minutes a game.

Continue to be complacent? He's been desperate to leave for more playing time. He already agreed comeback to America on loan this last transfer window, but Benfica rejected that. There was a rumor they rejected something like 20 million for 50% of his card from a Premier League club. They want a club to match the insane amount the Chinese offered, even though he's clearly not proved he's worth that much..

When Mitriglou was there they were playing 4-4-2
For this season they got Seferovic and since he sucks they opted to switch formation rather than start Jimenez.
He needs to leave for a bigger league if he can. I know he's a Mendes boy, so that shouldn't be a problem if he has a good cup.

So you are agreeing with me when I say other newcomer players are getting a chance to start instead of Raul?
