so the game is in a couple hours and there is no match thread so i thought i would take that responsibility and give you guys a new scapegoat if we crash and burn out of this competition. Imo, we should take this Coppa edition seriously, and finally get our 10th! It's also a good opportunity for Fonseca to get his 1st trophy with this God forsaken team and install that Winning Mentality DAJE

I get what your saying and a trophy would be nice but I'm not sure this team has enough healthy bodies to play in 3 tournaments.
We got lucky with that "offside call" Lopez should have seen the straight red. It was a tackle by Smalling and not a through ball.
Right at the end Perotti puts in a fine ball in the perfect spot for a 9. Kalinic nowhere to be seen. Another big stiff, as useful as a bucket with a hole in it.
But equally there were occasions where Kalinic - and others - were in the box but the cross was not delivered when there was an opportunity to do so. Too often we take the wrong decision in attack, often trying the more difficult option, and it's undermining our efficiency in attack (no goals from open play in the last 3 hours and 45 minutes of play).
Yes Diawara's composure is a real constant for this midfield. He has a nice knack of knicking the ball of the opponent with subtle touches. Who would have thought it but this team desperately needs the goat and Pellegrini can think about things from the bench.
I was going to @ you but I knew you'd quote me He has very good technique in and around the box and rarely looses it.. All those years taking down those Chievo long balls has paid off. He could do a good job for us.
