Untold Arsenal's ref review, opined that Dean had a nightmare first half (or maybe a dream in his view) but then was almost perfect with his calls in the 2nd half. To be fair, I couldn't tell in real time whether Gibbs or Szescsny or both clipped Bale or not.
personally, I think Dean should have sent off the Brave Scotty Parker on the tackle he had in the first half. He got yellow carded for that.
So judging from this game, do you guys think Wenger will drop the 3 strikers(or striker and 2 wingers) up front and go back to more playing an AM on the left wing?
I don't think so - the midfield needs to show that it can keep the ball consistently. I think the reason Wenger went with the two AMs was that teams were sitting really deep against us, and the two AM on the wing approach was helpful in retaining possession and breaking those teams down. But if teams are going to play a high line, and we can't consistently keep the ball, it makes sense to try to get behind the defense with wingers. Even if they can't cross at all.

I can't recall EVER seeing anything like this before! At least in the Prem. There is no way he could dispute being excited by Spurs opening the scoring against us. He's not an awful ref IMO but how can he still be employed in this league when he's got such an obvious conflict of interest?! Seriously.
honestly, does anyone really think that jump was in celebration?? he jumped to look over sczcesny... the conspiracy theories in football are incredible.
I feel totally vindicated for buying a Rosicky shirt from last season in anticipation of a good year.
Agreed. I was out west for the game, didn't wake up till the 3-2 lol. Great great win. BTW Anyone have a download for the game, my DVR at home didn't work death to Time Warner
Have had a few problems with Time Warner myself lately too. There's probably some full match downloads available..however, here's a freebie from Arsenal Player. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/free-video-the-derby-from-a-different-angle
while i don't subscribe to the conspiracy theories myself, it's not "just" the jump. by itself, it probably wouldn't be able to gain traction, it's the skip afterward in conjunction with the result.
I googled his history. Based on that research, i don't think he is biased, just a crappy ref. Or crooked.
Then of course there is the curious way he gets both the Spurs v Arsenal games Who are actually the pro-Arsenal refs in the league? You know - the ones always giving Arsenal dodgy penalties or the big team bias?
It is good to see you on form and having fun. A veritable cornucopia of Grimster postings . Dinner was good today - paid for by a scum supporter who lost our standing bet.
Thanks Dave I tried to spread some humour on the Spurs board but the excuse for a moderator gave me a 2-point infraction for using a word that he didn't understand. Never mind, it reminds me of a night in 1991 when we won in the season that the League deducted 2 points following the brawl at Old Trafford. the whole of the West Stand, Highbury rose and erupted in a chorus of: "You can stuff your f*cking two points up your arse! You can stuff your f*cking two points up your arse! You can stuff your f*cking two points Stuff your f*cking two points Stuff you f*cking two points up your arse - SIDEWAYS!"
Yes that's how I feel too. I am TOTALLY NOT a conspiracy theory dude. But that 2nd little jig looks a little too "excited". And how about the little 2 handed gesture where he appears to be willing the ball over the line. I've just never seen a ref at this level (if any level) behave like this. At the very least it just doesn't look impartial.
Have a look at about 6.46 into this clip and you will see the referee celebrate a famous Arsenal victory (Actually you should watch it all!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6nO8hCbqG4]FA Cup Final 1971[/ame]
In the legal world, judges are supposed to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. Refs, especially at the professional level, should adhere to the same rule. A few folks in the Refs Forum here on BS (a pretty level-headed group of posters) said the same.
