As I think more about this game, one of the things I keep coming back to is how our midfield 3 worked exactly the way it's supposed to. Rosicky created (and combined real well with Benayoun), Arteta was always available, always ready to keep possession and click over to the next move, and Song was disciplined and stuck to his role, while still taking advantage of the opportunity to spot that pass for Theo's second (I think). I also think Yossi should see more time -- I've always thought he was a good role player, and I think he can contribute. As Arseblogger pointed out this morning, please, please, please, please let them see that they need to play like this all the time.
I wonder what excuse the Scum will invent for subbing their captain (and CB) off other than that he was absolutely garbage for the whole game? At one point, I thought Friedel was going to punch him in the face (after the Theo goal).

I thought Benayoun helped Rosicky in the way that Rosicky used to help Cesc when Rosicky would play out wide. He always offered a place for the ball to go, and for Tommy (who is clearly the main creator in the team now) to know that when he puts it there it's not going right back to the other side allows the offense to be that much more dangerous. Over the past couple of years, when we switched the formation to allow for pacier, less technical players on the flanks, our possession game has suffered. Yossi can keep the ball, move it forward, and get on the end of things and I think if we're to play at our passing best it's a huge asset.

Someone put this on his Wikipedia page near the top. Still there as of this post: "He is one of Tottenham Hotspurs biggest fans. He & Harry Redknapp are bezzies 4 lyfe." In all seriousness though, I've never had a problem with Dean.

....And? I don't recall a match in which he consistently made calls which directly hindered our play. We were just poor. I do realize refs can have massive effects on teams, but I don't think Dean was as overarching as many people think. Also with the post-goal hopping, I used to ref (I DO realize that American High School games are not the same as the North London motherfcvking derby) and its easy to get caught up in the excitement from a neutral standpoint. Don't mean to pick on your claim, Prince. Just responding to the response.
difficult or not, he made a bad call yesterday that could have easily f--ked us. Luckily we were above and beyond and it ultimately didn't matter. 2-0 is nothing to sneeze at.
Yeah, but I definitely put that call on the Assistant Ref. He should have been in line with the play when it occurred and seen Bale's dive (who of course will go unpunished, just like Eduardo. Wait....) With Sagna right behind Bale, it's easy to see how Dean might've missed it.
I certainly don't want to make excuses for poor officiating, but after reffing high level High School games in America I can see how top level refs in the fastest league in the world can make some bad calls. In the end I thought Dean had a fair game minus the penalty incident.
He looks like a prancing my little pony or the leprechaun from than cereal who just found his pot of gold. Either way, for prancing around like that and being a sh$t ref he should have his kneecaps done in.
That's like saying "she gave me great head but bit my d@ck off at the end.". No excuse for than penalty call...he should be ashamed that he fell for that monkey dive.
