GBS will retire possibly this weekend, unless Gimnasia wins and he will have to play two more games in a regulation playoff... It will be GBS last professional game. Is there or are there any Crew related things that will be in this game? http://www.ole.com.ar/gimnasia-y-esgrima/Mohamed-Barros_Schelotto_0_500350269.html If so contact Gimnasia La Plata ASAP.
Re: GBS possible retirement Sad to see. He deserves a big send off. He can coach here if he wants, we need him. But it would be tortuous asking him to watch us every day.
Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread OK, so there's some kind of technical glitch with the OTNT that's not allowing the newest posts to be viewed, even though the thread keeps going to the top of the page. So screw it -- new thread starts here.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Gymnasia tied Boca 2-2 today, as GBS and Palermo featured in their last matches. Guille scored a PK and was stretchered off in a neck brace after taking a free kick square in the face. Later reports had him up and walking around.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Check that scoreline again. Palermo's last play as a player was an assist to lead to the tying goal from Cellay in the last seconds.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Anyone watching Seattle - TFC right now? Winner gets the Self Entitlement Trophy
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Montero just put a dagger in Toronto! ohhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Is there a bigger piece of shit in MLS than Charlie Davies?
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Yes. But you're right, his dive tonight was embarrassing/disgraceful.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread There is a bigger piece of sh*t. The ref who gave him the call.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Well, he's not the first ref this season. He's got away with this numerous times this season including against LA when Donovan and the press called him out afterwards. Everybody get so misty eyed at his comeback story, and him being near the top of the league in goals, and fails to realize that diving has become the centerpiece of his game, even more so than speed. Since he's not even half the player he used to be he relies on this crap. Hopefully, the refs come around, because frankly, he's a disgrace to the league right now.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread I dunno guys. I just watched the replays, because y'all were talking about it, but for me it wasn't all that bad. I place the blame on the referee for making a bad call. I mean Davies put the ball out with a bad touch to his right and then was simply avoiding Wingert's leg. Nothing malicioius there, he was simply trying not to step on another player.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread You're nuts. Wingert pulls his leg back, makes no contact, Davies flops to the ground and jumps up doing the "yellow card finger waggle" like it was an obvious foul. A sad display from a fallen hero in my eyes. Watch the full highlight package to see a nice homerism comparison on the color call by Rongen on the 2 penalty plays.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread On Twitter even Steven Goff called out Davies for the disgraceful dive and then had just as harsh words for the joke that is the DC announcing crew. Neither Davies nor Rongen covered themselves in glory last night.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Okay. I'm sorry but I couldn't help myself. It was indeed a dive, no questions asked. However, I'm not outraged at the call. This is the sport we all watch. Davies did exactly what he is paid to do, and that is find a goal. Everyone should agree that this type of gamesmanship is cheating, but the game allows for it and Davies will never be punished. In fact his coaches and teammates will pat him on the back because that dive was the difference between a draw and a loss. Future teams looking to sign him might even give the man a little more money cause he knows how to get a call. A long story short, Davies will only benefit from that dive and the fans and media will have forgotten about it when the next set of games roll around.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread I'll never forget!!! But I have passionate hatred for DCU that Davies seems to want to amplify even more.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Pretty disgusting dive- and this is coming from someone who likes Charlie Davies more than any other American player. Juninho had a pretty impressive goal for LA for anyone who missed it.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread I've seen worse dives by the Italians, Brazilians and Portuguese. Dives that have results in penalties (like this one) or even yellow AND red cards. Sure its better to be dead than DC's PMS Red, but it was nothing so atrocious that I wouldn't be able to get over it. As for the commentators, I must say for Rongen to sit there and pine over a penalty given for a handball in the box and then turn around and not say a damn thing about Davies' dive and the horrible, horrible call by the ref is beyond explanation.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Which part? The fans forgetting or Davies benefitting? Explain yourself man!
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Sorry. I meant the dive won't be easily forgotten. By some, at least.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread Wow, the US U17s started off the WC well...some real promising talent on the ball and some serious speed and size. Wilmer has got a good team... 3-0 victory over what was supposedly their toughest team in the group, the Czechs. If that was the toughest team then I'd hate to see New Zealand and Uzbekistan.
Re: Adopted Cousin of Other Teams' News Thread All three were GLORIOUS, we're talking stunning! It was fun watching a US National team play like total football on steroids. They were running like squirrels at a walnut convention!
