Honestly I think there would be surprising bipartisan support in both the house and the senate to pull out troops in 2013 instead of 2014 if anyone took the time to write the bill ... The sooner the better IMO. If Afghanistan ends up in a civil war it'll happen regardless of whether we stay one year more or one year less
Incident as reported by the Western media a couple of months ago: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/17/w...-kills-six-in-afghanistan.html?pagewanted=all Incident as being reported by the media today: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/9723039/Four-Afghan-boys-shot-by-British-while-drinking-tea.html

Women's rights begin at home (if you'll excuse the unfortunate pun). The US Army isn't in Afghanistan to liberate women, as these figures prove: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/...ults_n_2370099.html?utm_hp_ref=world&ir=World
They should be stoned to death that will teach them to not get sexually harassed. Or just shoot them like this.
You forgot the favorite choice of weapons to be used against women there: When did the US Army say anything about going into Afghanistan for women's rights? Once again umar trying to make up a story and claiming "facts" to support it.
Didn't know Russia had an MIA-seeking NGO: http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/06/world/asia/missing-russian-soldier-found-afghanistan/index.html

Rest in peace to all 7 that died in the cargo plane crash. Someone actually filmed it, and the video has been released on youtube. Pretty messed up.. :/
I am sure umar will be around to defend these attacks... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-rt-us-afghanistan-icrcbre94s0qa-20130529,0,6465101.story Maybe the Red Cross is a viable military target now....

12 years of wasted time, American treasury and life. Appears that US is getting the same lesson as the Soviets, in Afghanistan... http://www.washingtonpost.com/world...609f90-6f32-11e3-aecc-85cb037b7236_story.html
Should've left Afghanistan in late 2002 waste of time, blood and money. To occupy a nation like Afghanistan and establish a puppet government to be pro-US was foolish. Obama doubling down was a mistake. You cannot defeat a native insurgency like the Taliban in a society with no organized civil society. Afghanistan is not Iraq it's the wild Wild West.
Could the purported number of civilian casualties from drones be exaggerated? http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htmurph/articles/20140502.aspx
What an absolute load of tosh. Any sources at all cited in that article? Any evidence? What cases from 2004 is he talking about? Nada. This is just some dude writing an opinion piece that is aimed at military/ex-military. EDIT: I've looked and presumably he's talking about the Al-Sweady enquiry. So it is a gross misrepresentation to suggest that: The enquiry is still ongoing, and hasn't reached any conclusions yet. The claims were made by the MoD to the enquiry, but other claims were made by the Iraqi families, involving unlawful killings and torture. The enquiry has yet to rule on any of the allegations and counter-allegations. The writer of the article is stupid as he or she cannot comprehend basic facts about the processes involved in an enquiry, but you are not. Your posting of that here is simply lazy.
Well, there are always two sides to the drone issue; http://www.dailystar.com.lb/News/In...-drones-in-tribal-pakistan.ashx#axzz30rChc4ls
Drone strikes are very effective tool against terrorists and militants in the region. The fact that the people they target would go so far as to kill innocents just for voicing their support for them, and will do so in such a criminally obscene way and film it, just shows that the program is the right one to use.
It has always been overly exaggerated. It is part of the propaganda movement that western media love to lap up. The reality is that more civlians are killed by these terrorist militants then by all the drone strikes combined.
