wasn't the topic the CURRENT best cantera? the one we'll count on for the best players in the next few years. it's a question of prediction and appreciation, not statistics and records... sorry rdl.

if this is current... well..

What players from their youth systems have helped Chivas win a title? Where are the fruits of their labor? EIGHT players on the 2005 Championship team that played the finals are product of America's youth system.

Is that not what this about? Current?

Your argument is based on the players on the NT. WELL.. Villa, Blanco, Ochoa, Paco Torres, Alvin Mendoza, Oscar Rojas, Gringo Castro also are or have been NT players (youth and/or sr). This argument is flawed in the sense that being on the NT can be due to favortism (such as the case I have pointed out). Lavolpe even said it himself... Beltran was not of his liking. Blanco does not fit into his scheme. Bofo was not of his liking (with respect to functionality).

WHY hasnt Azulcrema's question been answered? How many titles have Chivas won?

I am assuming he is referring to the titles won recently as to prove (or dispove) the quality of Chivas' youth systems

I dont want to get involved in this, but the key players to americas championship were ochoa and blanco. the foreigners contributed, but not as much as those two. And just to point out, when san luis got promoted, america had a short year (quick elimination in the liguilla), so Memo, Oscar Rojas, and Castro were sent down to ensure the promotion. They only played in the finals, but they did help out.

It's not about the love for the team, that doesn't say anything when it comes to QUALITY!!!!
And the only players from cantera that america had that were worth something on their last championship, were Cuauhtemoc, gringo, and Ochoa.
the rest were accually players from other teams.
Pavel Pardo (atlas).
Kleber (brazilian).
Lopez (argentinian).
they have been working on youth, I give you that, but to compare them with the ammount and quality of players that Atlas and pumas has made???? no way!
following those 2 teams, I would have to say that Pachuca and Cruz Azul.
Now I'm a Chiva, and I think chivas is picking up, they have been working really good on their youth, but still, not as good as atlas.

When 7 players come from fuerzas basicas and help win a championship as part of a TEAM, how can you call them garbage? You insist that they lack quality. If in fact they do as you argue, what does that then say about their competition?

Out of curiosity, just what are you using as a citeria to rank what makes the best cantera?

Here we go again!!!
another threat invaded by stuborn americanistas talking none-sence.
america's main players are not even mexicans! and from the ones that are, just a few are from cantera!
tecos went to a final against you guys, with players from "cantera" (Leaño, etc), but the fact that very few of them leave the team, or other teams show interest on them tells you whats up with their cantera.
is the same thing with america.
they have players, that the only people that think that they are great players is you guys.

Well maybe he wasn't as important as bravo, salcido, medina, etc... in chivas championship run.

Oh wait, chivas hasn't won a championship in 9 years. Yet people think they have a good cantera

I don't think you can say a team's cantera is better than another just because they have or have not won a championship. Atlas' cantera never won a championship but they got damn close. They lead the league in points as well which is a great achievement even if it is not rewarded in any way in out league.

I think the best cantera is the one who has the most players in first division. That tells you that the players a team produces actually have what it takes to stay in the league.
