I really don't know, i think it's because there league is so amateur and there dedication to the sport. The countries who have progressed breath Football. Panama is beggining to do so.

Nicaragua is just barely starting to take the beautiful game seriously, their main sports have always been Baseball and Boxing(Baseball is slowly losing popularity, thank God:D) They didn´t even enter the World Cup qualifiers until the 1990s, and only have about 3 decent teams(that could be considered USL-1, if even that) in their first division, and the league wasn´t even fully professional until less that 5 years ago. They have 3 divisions, with a promotion/relegation system, and the two biggest teams, Real Esteli and Diriangen have academies and youth teams in the lower divisions. They also have a FUTSAL league.

What really stumped the football were the political/economic problems and decade-long civil war. What would really help would be player exchanges with Costa Rica(CRL or Segunda Division bench players playing in Nicaragua to help lift the level up, and the best Nicaraguan players playing in Costa Rica) but the two countries have a serious beef with each other and it will never happen.

Here was a match against El Salvador
