It's WAY better than Amway that's for sure. And as far as it not being a sexy company, does the general public really know what Siemens does and remember what jersey they were on?
A sponsor with long arms, deep pockets and prior soccer experience, sounds like a good deal to me! I'm on board.
I remember reading on the SJQ website that the FO was planning to call only the fan zone area the epicenter.
While not one of the "Big Guys" that some were hoping for, at least these guys have shown an interest in and commitment to soccer for some time. From the Wikipedia article: "Avaya was the official Converged Communications Provider for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. It also previously provided the communications networks for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2003."
I heard of Lucent which seems to be the predecessor to the AVAYA brand. maybe if your a networking guy or manager at some big name corporate firm you know these guys well. But for the average user. Networking is CISCO, Netgear, Linksys, D-link, 3com. When you think of it. Would be a good reason for getting a naming rights to a few stadiums to build up the their brand a bit. All I'm hoping for is that they won the bid because they put in a much better bid that other tech giants did. I.E. give SJ Quakes some money to spend on quality DPs to help fill those fancy new seats at the AVAYA EPICENTER.
Except the Shark Tank wasn't the official name of the family fun zone at the Arena that the team sign posted and promoted. If you say you're going to the Shark Tank people know that you're going to the arena. If you say you're going to the Epicenter people will think you're going to the family fun zone to get your face painted.

We'll see whether what Kaval says about that comes to pass, but if Avaya does end up sponsoring both The Epicenter and the jerseys: GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I don't think they'll sponsor the Epicenter. They'll probably leave that for Chucky Cheese or some similar kid oriented business. BTW - Nice shirts!
I also thought it was a sensible theory but alas, the webcam is back to its original view and the scoreboard looks the same.
