Tenemos la calidad, pero no la mentalidad. No lo entiendo, porque si tenemos la mentalidad en las copas americas.
Peru is playing with house money right now. Relatively no one expected them to advance let alone top the Group. Sometimes when teams exceed expectations they play looser and with less pressure. That said, Colombia is the better team and had their slip up against Costa Rica. They should enter this game more focused. Pekerman will be the difference over Gareca.
Its hardly a shock that we advanced. What's shocking is that we knocked out Brazil. Last time we went out in the group stages was in 1995 and we finished 3rd in 2011 and 2015. I don't see how its "shocking"
It was surprising to many outside of Lima and Cusco since almost everyone had Brazil first and Ecuador second. I was not personally shocked though.
Last year we had a tough group too though. No one expected us to beat Brazil and Colombia (and to be fair, we didn't even do that!) and after Venezuela beat Colombia 1-0, people thought we would lose to Venezuela as well, in fact Bein Sports said in a Peru vs Colombia advertisement that Peru got a "shock win" over Venezuela which baffled me. Peru always makes it to the quarter finals. We always get tough groups but we always find a way. Maybe in North America it was shocking but I'm sure Ecuadorians know that they don't usually do well in tournaments. The surprise of the Copa is definitely Venezuela, and not us. Venezuela have done really poorly in qualifiers and you could argue last years Copa America as well. Yet they finished second tied on points in the group.
There were many people here who are South American who looked at the new Gareca roster saying Peru was going three and out. I was one of the few who said bringing in the new blood would be a good thing for Peru. Let's not re-write history here. But anyway, my main point is Colombia is the better team and has the better coach and should win. But Peru can surprise , no doubt.
The new Gareca roster definitely confused people outside of Peru, and I think our lesson here is picking form over the stars. You're right about Colombia though. They're clear favourites and for a good reason but I'm staying optimistic,
in another thread i was telling that the press is a reason, of the "crisis" in peruvian football...........they treat the nt like a circus, invading the life of the footballers
Ese tailgate va estar de la put@ madre. Harta salsa y cerveza, y quien sabe que mas . Lastima me mude a Texas tambien
Peru is going home. A ver a la Señorita Laura!!!!! Colombia looking like a serious contender for the Final. Colombia 4- 0 Peru
