The Garcia Report basically confirms something I have been saying around these boards for months now. FIFA does not want to make USA Television Networks angry because that would be a financial nightmare. So in order to appease FOX and Telemundo for the stupid Winter season change they had to basically give them the rights to the 2026 World Cup in a back room shady deal (instead of an open auction as like all other World Cup rights) in order to avoid costly litigation.

Qatar WC was bought the report has no smoking gun because everyone interviewed "doesn't remember" Some even "forgot" they had private jets take them to Rio. Because like turning off your oven when you leave the house some times you forget if the Emir of Qatar flies you to Rio.

Also while the Emir is known to always give "really nice gifts" many "forgot" if they got one.

Give me a break. As if anyone in their right mind would vote for a tiny piece of crap desert nation that has no football history, future or infastrcuture to host the most prestigious tournament based on merit of a bid. FIFA won't allow the same city to host more than 2 stadiums yet Qatar which is the size of one big city will have 12 stadiums?

The World is full of cowards, the fact Qatar is still hosting a WC proves that.

They are down to 8 or 9 stadiums now and at least six of them are in Doha or closely surrounding Doha.

Ah well if FIFA dismiss it then it can't possibly be true.

I suppose the response is "well, it fits my prejudices - so it must be true"

And let's just ignore that it was on a faked version of "The Local"'s website and allegedly posted from an address registered to Hawaii shall we.

It all comes down to this.

In a sign that Qatar-GCC talks are perhaps moving in positive direction BeIn Sports is once again available in the UAE. Much to my enjoyment!

I can only hope it gets to the point where FIFA have to care because the evidence i9s so strong. I think the irony will be that the USA get the 2022 WC as Sepp Blatter had originally presumed the stitch up to be. I still find it difficult to imagine that my favourite sporting event by a long way I will need to avoid entirely if catarrh still get it.

I don't think anything could happen there. FIFA is simply greedy with no limits and qatar has all the money, fullstop! the only think that could strip the world cup off qatar would be the war, and we definitely do not wish that to anyone!

Today in wishful thinking we get:

    http://www.news.com.au/sport/footba...y/news-story/f7696decaee07570f89dab035379a9f8

That quote should probably be bolder (it is in the article - but that's largely to pad it out like you would in a second rate political science essay).

Anyway, to save you reading the article: some as yet un-named "western diplomats" told the BBC who told The Sun who told News.Com Australia that they had seen a report that said that other diplomats might have said in private they weren't sure that the whole thing would take place precisely as planned and that would certainly definitely possibly mean that there is the possibility of a chance that the whole thing might possibly be handed to "fellow contender" Australia.

[I assume they said "Australia" there rather than "United States" because they weren't talking to US journalists in this case - and it doesn't really matter because it is all made up.]

This is just initial rumbles. The Qatar WC obviously has significant opposition due to issues with moving the event window to December. When witnesses start testifying about illegal bribes and we see the current political crisis in the region it's a given that people will start sounding each other. That said, this is only viable if there is no other Asian host capable of pulling this off and if the US drops Mexico and Canada as cohosts.

China or Australia/New Zealand should be able to host the cup on a short notice..
