What parts of the States are good to go there for winter break preperations? Florida for sure, but the other Southern states too?

 

De Wijs is a 22 (januari 23) year old loan CD from PSV. Is there a recall option in his loan agreement?
It just puzzles me that PSV is linked with Erik Palmer-Brown from the States as a loan from ManCity, who has no experience but 2nd division in Portugal and Uxx tournements with the USA (although according to Yank posters with best player awards).
PSV has de Wijs, who was ranked high too last season, only surpassed by the Feyenoord defenders with experience against world class strikers like Dolberg and Jörgensen, and very good ones like Locadia, de Jong etc.
Why would you want to spend time developing a guy that isnot yours, while you have the solution that is high on our charts for the second season in a row to begin with?

PSV versterkte zich afgelopen zomer met Hirving Lozano en binnenkort komt ook Maximiliano Romero naar Eindhoven. Daarmee hebben de Eindhovenaren twee absolute toptalenten in de gelederen. Algemeen directeur Toon Gerbrands legt in gesprek met De Telegraaf uit hoe zij dat voor elkaar krijgen.

"Het mooiste voorbeeld blijf ik Luis Suarez vinden. Die zei tegen Gaston Pereiro: ’ga eerst een paar jaar naar Nederland, daar leer je het vak’. Spits Luis Suárez speelde in zijn Eredivisie-tijd voor FC Groningen en Ajax en heeft naar eigen zeggen veel opgestoken van zijn seizoenen in Nederland. Toen middenvelder Gastón Pereiro hem om wijze raad vroeg, wist hij daarom wel wat te antwoorden.
In een interview met het Uruguayaanse televisiestation Telenoche onthult de speler van FC Barcelona: "Gastón vroeg me wat ik zou doen als ik in zijn schoenen stond en ik antwoordde dat de Hollandse school eigenlijk ongeëvenaard is. Ik heb zo ongelooflijk veel geleerd bij FC Groningen en Ajax, dus hij moest naar PSV gaan. Als je je aan kunt passen aan het Nederlandse voetbal, dan komt het wel goed met je, vertelde ik hem."

PSV midfield and defense this saturday evening started with an arrogance against a team playing to avoid relegation and didnot heed the warnings given by Willem II. They thought they could walk through this match as it has been about 14 years ago they lost there. But hey, that was when they got onto the pitch to put in an effort. If you donot do that, you're in for a shock. All those years without a defeat mean nothing if you are sleepwalking on the pitch.

Man of the Match: Natuurlijk leverde Willem II als collectief een geweldige prestatie door koploper PSV thuis met 5-0 af te drogen. Het talent maakt deel uit van Engeland onder 16. Madueke is een tijdje geleden al in beeld gekomen bij de Eindhovenaren.


Ook Manchester United is naar verluidt in de race voor Madueke, die nog geen contract bij Tottenham heeft getekend. PSV hoopt hem te kunnen vastleggen om hem via de eigen opleiding klaar te stomen voor het betaald voetbal in Nederland.

Superieur PSV grijpt landstitel tegen dramatisch Ajax

De 24ste landstitel uit de clubhistorie van PSV, hij zal de boeken in gaan als een kampioenschap met extra cachet. In een rechtstreeks duel werd Ajax totaal de vernieling in gespeeld: 3-0. Met ook nog tien punten verschil op de ranglijst is er geen enkele discussie meer: PSV neemt met recht de titel van Feyenoord over.

Alleen in 1963 kwam het eerder voor: een kampioenschap van PSV in een rechtstreeks duel met Ajax. Destijds werd het - in de oertijd van het Nederlandse voetbal nog - liefst 5-2. Zoiets zou nu toch niet meer kunnen, dacht je vooraf. Maar wat bleek: eigenlijk had zo'n monsteruitslag nu weer prima gekund.

Het verschil tussen PSV en Ajax, het was werkelijk in alles zichtbaar in de eenzijdige topper in het Philips Stadion. De verbetenheid in de duels. Het omgaan met kansen. Het spelen als team. 'Sta op voor de kampioen', zong het PSV-publiek gaandeweg de tweede helft massaal. Let wel: dat deden ze na amper 50 minuten spelen, toen er al een 3-0 voorsprong op het bord stond. PSV straalde winnen uit. En won ook de duels die per se gewonnen moesten worden. Neem de 1-0, drie Ajacieden lieten zich op de doellijn aftroeven door één PSV'er, Gaston Pereiro, die de rebound op een schot van Hirving Lozano binnen werkte. En bij de 2-0 na 37 minuten mocht Luuk de Jong simpel raakkoppen van zijn timide bewaker Max Wöber, die sowieso geen partij was voor de spits van PSV.

Vooraf baarde PSV-trainer Phillip Cocu nog opzien met de keuze voor zijn basisteam. De coach die graag wedstrijden benadert vanuit de controle, koos nu voor een middenveld met maar twee pure middenvelders tegenover drie van Ajax op dat deel van het veld. Gaston Pereiro (en niet Bart Ramselaar) moest de aanvallers ondersteunen. Cocu gokte ook op het feit dat Pereiro vaak iets extra's kan in topwedstrijden. Hij scoorde dit seizoen ook al in beide toppers tegen Feyenoord en vorige week nog uit bij AZ.

Was de eerste helft al een verschrikking voor Ajax, de tweede draaide uit op een totale vernedering met ook nog twee rode kaarten. Eén terechte (twee keer geel) voor Nicolas Tagliafico, één onterechte voor Siem de Jong, die ongelukkig tackelde op de voet van een PSV'er. Op het eind gunde Cocu ook keeper Jeroen Zoet nog een publiekswissel.

In Eindhoven is morgen de huldiging op het Stadhuisplein, nota bene op de geboortedag van Frits Philips. Bij Ajax kan de directie zich opmaken voor een crisisberaad. Het seizoen waarin al zoveel tegen zat, draaide nu zelfs op een fiasco uit. Dat zal waarschijnlijk niet zonder gevolgen blijven.

In relation to Feyenoord's performance it's not so strange as we lost to injuries the award winning centre and backs for most of the season and our top scorer into the second half of the season. Kramer wasnot up to the task to replace him. We even had to play midfielders as CD/wing backs, so much the sick bay was filled to the brim.

I read several rumours about Arsenal/Juventus/Barcelona interested in Lozano. The daft point in those rumours is the price they quote for Lozano. Around 35 million €€.
PSV has to qualify themselves for the group stage of the CL, which is more likely with Lozano than without him.
If they make it into the group stage PSV will earn at least 30-35 million. If they manage to get into the next round it can jump to 50 million.
And then they still have Lozano to sell.
So what's the brilliant idea behind selling him for the same money they throw away by probably not qualifying=lozano leaving for nothing=a loss of the transfer sum they payed themselves.
So either the PSV board has no clue about how to run the club profitable or those people that produce the rumours have no frigging idea about the real matters.

 

They some years ago made the blunder, I think it was with Rutten on the helm, to sell that Yugoslav striker, when they were heading for the title in the winter stop. They cashed a few millions, but threw away the title and the qualification for the CL group stage with the result they lost instead of gained money. If they repeat that stupid action it is truly unbelievable.
I wonder if they know the concept of opportunity costs.
