It will be a difficult season unless we strengthen before the deadline - Mourinho www.bbc.com/sport/football/45078237 He may have a point, but it's still a ready made excuse at the end of the day. As there is more than enough talent currently to be doing, much, much better than that what we've seen this preseason. 2 decent halves of football is not really acceptable or what counts as good prep going into the season.
That's exactly what he's trying to do. And, as mentioned, while he may have a point, there are ways to be going about things. Mourinho doesn't care though, we know this. I really hope that this is it and that Woodward will actually start working on a contingency plan, so he can pull the ripcord as soon as it becomes absolutely required. Woodward and the board have their faults as well, no doubt about it, but I wouldn't tolerate that from my manager either. Very unprofessional behavior, on top of being just childish. Address this behind closed door, man to man...
Not sure the basis of the story, but a number of the uk paps reported a few days back that the brief tunnel meeting at the Real Madrid game was the first meeting for Mou with the 'elusive' Woodward for 17 days. Shouldn't mean much in the context of being on tour and modern means of comms etc., but has the sniff of an off-the-record story from Mou camp to put more pressure on Woody. If so their relationship is in a very bad place.
said so in the transfers thread but mourinho's targets were all pretty realistic: fred, alderweireld, sandro and willian (or another rw). we're going to lose out on sandro over money - that's unacceptable. the only other explanation would be that the board still actually believes in shaw. which would be insane.
So now money does matter. We never had an open check book. A lot of our fans believed we had plenty money to spend. If this was true, one of Sandro or Alderwield would have been done already.
your guess is as good as mine. everyone knows that sandro is available for 60 mil. so why is he not here? (i thik we'll get alderweireld)
We may not have a bottomless hole, like the oil money clubs, but with our business revenue as it, we should be have a lot of cash available for transfers (or spending in recent years is testament of that). I think the issue now, is there may be trust issues between himself and Mourinho. Or at least, some type of disconnect in how money should be spent. Mourinho would spend big money on a bunch of experienced players, probably coming to the twilight of their careers. A view that Woodward probably does not share. And I can understand that, but again to Woodward, the point remains: know who are dealing with. This is no surprise coming from Mourinho and it's something he should have been aware of (perhaps he was, but the results have not been what he hoped for). But what it means, above all else, is that the club needs to have a plan, an identity it sticks to, thru thick or thin, change in managers, etc... Until that happens, we'll be a rudderless ship, with no solid foundation or a clear direction we're heading towards. Something I hope he has learned for the next guy he's looking to bring in.
Players need to own up to the output they put on the field. Martial, Rashford, Pogba, need to grow up. As a manager how could you possibly trust them game in and game out? Rashford in the WC confirms why he is a bench player for Mo. He is a realist. Despite the spending, the gap was deep and wide. Difficult job changing diapers
I have been saying this ever since he managed a Prem club. He inherited good teams and took them over the hurdle. I said that before on here and people got defensive but its the truth. He got a half ass team and its still a half ass team despite spending like 500m on players in a few transfer widows.
Here's my existential wail into the bleakness: We're going to be shittier than we were last season. Whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
