I like how cleanly and easily he disarms opponents. Seems pretty clear he's going to play a lot of minutes this semester.

I expect this to be the first of many goals in this kid's career.

Yep, he turned 20 recently. Very impressive guy in his youth career.

For now, he's still behind Duque and Murillo in the pecking order.

Pablo Sabbag, right? I'll keep an eye on him. I guess we missed him for the next Sudamericano...

His game reminds me of a taller Aristizabal for some reason. Not bad.

His name does not seem Colombian. My first reaction was maybe Lebanese? Maybe Israeli? Could be Pibe10's long lost Colombian cousin. :p

Beautiul goal, he has great technique and even speed for a guy that tall, he should have been taken to the Sudamericano, but he is Just one of Many that were discarded. A shame.

You are correct. Sabbag is a very common last name in Israel :)

I never thought that I would say this because I grew up on the generation that had Higuita, Cordoba, Calero & Mondragon, but if we need to worry about something it's our goalkeepers. Ospina is already 29, and even though goalkeepers can play until their 40's, injuries can happen like before the 2011 Copa America and then what? I cannot point on one Colombian goalkeeper today that I can trust him to replace Ospina if needed. Even the major teams cannot trust on them and it's a problem. So every young keeper that receives a chance, I hope that maybe this will be the next Ospina.

Yea GK is really scary spot. Unless somehow we nationalize Armani. Two solid Gks would make me sleep ok. But even Ospina at 30(turns it in August) isn't a starter and will get very limited game time. Armani not as solid as he was last year and Camilo Vargas is where? Bonilla isn't a good GK. Also our other options all over 32 and all of them are super flaky at best.

I had hopes for Envigados other GK but guess he lost his spot.

I think that there is a very talented generation coming, what they're going to need is opportunities to display their talent. Kevin Mier may have some issues currently but I rate that kid very highly, his one on one, speed and positioning are impressive for someone his age and that is probably why he tends to make dumb mistakes, he relies a lot in the physical aspects of his game. With Game time and more experience he will be great.

Yimmy Gómez is also very impressive, he has a maturity that is beyond his age and looks like a pro already. Hopefully he starts getting minutes in Copa Colombia soon, he just needs a chance.

I also like a lot Pierluigi Graziani from Alianza Petrolera. He is similar to Ospina in a lot of things, great reflexes and agility. He is 22 years old and has been a u15 and u17 international with Colombia.

I hope. I do agree that they must have opportunities. With Meir I wasn't impress at all during the Sudamericano but he is a kid. He still has several years to develop. On the other hand, where are big promises like Libis Arenas, Hector Landazuri or Cristian Bonilla? (who was linked to Man City). First two fade away, while Bonilla is a decent GK but I cannot see him as a replacement for Ospina.

Bonilla was never my favourite goalkeeper, he is taller and his goal kicks are good but he never impressed me beyond that, he has a weird way of positioning himself and despite being tall isn't good at aerial balls.

Mier to me is a more prototypical south american goalkeeper, with sturdy hands and good overall game, but very immature.

If you think about the weird line of goal free Kick disposition It was probably because Restrepo saw Quiñones free kicks ( Who scored like three in the u15 2 years before) and thought of that way to stop them, and I think that is a valid way, even if It isn't the most orthodox way of doing it. When It wasn't an specialist he never used It.

Good thing for Mier that he can still improve, while average Bonilla and Vargas are Ospina's replacements now [emoji15] [emoji19]
