Derby were great tonight v Arsenal. You can tell they're doing something right when there's eye catching performances from different people each time you watch. Best i've seen Sibley play. Whittaker was great. Knight too. But Archie Brown was a new one for me. Throw in Wilson, Bird + Kornell McDonald this season + you have to presume it's not a fluke. Looking forward to seeing their next group properly and if they've got something sustainable going.
I think I've posted on here that I've liked this Derby team for a while so it's pretty cool to see them come through. Brown's finished the season like an absolute train since he had more freedom to attack (at wing back or further forward, wing backs have suited them a lot this season), I still love Jason Knight, and their versatility was demonstrated throughout the team last night if for no other reason than Tyree Wilson starting off in the 9 shirt when he's often played all down the left. Really well-coached team.
yeah, i've definitely seen Wilson play left back, left wing + now no.9. Looks entirely interchangeable with Brown.
Albert Phelan Cup Final Sunderland 4 (Walsh x 2, McConnell , Creamer) West Ham 0 Some of the Sunderland players played their last game for the club. Hewitson & McConnell off to Liverpool.
Liverpool + United in the Checkatrade Trophy next year. I don't feel like either side is set up for it like Chelsea, City or Arsenal. Unless they block loans/hold players back for it, which is obviously not good for anyone.

Has he been selected for England at all in training camps etc? Just I’ve heard him being referred to as Nigerian in other papers so just wondering about his background?
Hasn't been to a camp. Do you know anything more ? I'm sure those Nigerian sites will be all over it Much of Cat 2 talk is Sheff Utd, Leeds, Forest, Birmingham (Burnley now) in the north and Palace, Charlton, Ipswich in the south but Millwall one of the success stories of Cat 2 unfashionable academies. https://www.newsatden.co.uk/71928-f...n-and-crystal-palace-for-south-londons-talent
It's just becoming so difficult to hold onto players for these clubs I worry about the long term viability of it all
City’s offer includes a number of performance-related add-ons that will apply to Ogwuru’s time with the club. Should he ever reach the first team, Bolton could receive a seven-figure sum.City plan to put him straight into their U15 team for the upcoming campaign.[@SamLee]— City Xtra (@City_Xtra) June 14, 2019
Dunno why those sorts of transfers get reported by mainstream outlets, it doesn't do anyone any good.
Remember Seb Thompson at Liverpool ? Went missing for a year. Signed for Derby. Is he a 1st year or 2nd year this season ?
I assume so, it's one of those that seems to be shrouded in a bit of mystery, but he said on his Insta he made the decision to leave Liverpool a year ago, so if he signed a pre-scholar or a two-year U14-U16 deal then I guess Liverpool could've held onto it and stopped him signing elsewhere. He did have a trial at Leicester, and was at Villa before Liverpool (pre-teens) so he's been around and has had plenty of press coverage over the years, doing keep-ups and skills and stuff in that cliched style.
I find it crazy if they did. Especially considering they'd just gone through the same thing with Duncan. Petty tit for tat doesn't benefit anyone.
That group for Liverpool is below par or not? Not much been confirmed for scholars yet. Only made the one French signing (Koumetio) Norris and Quansah are there but I think only Layton Stewart played up for the 18s last season.
Wigan desperately trying to get up to Cat 2. https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/fo...y-soon-reveals-wigan-athletic-chief-1-9850028 They could take Bolton's place ? Not sure what the future holds for their academy. The audits are happening over the next few months.
Liverpool haven't played a lot of schoolboys up in recent years tbh, definitely below the league average, although last season was an all-time low, just 0.2% of available appearances.
