Just more on the Liverpool thing. What other sport or profession targets 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 year old boys like football ? Crazy. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football...r-youth-signing-lie-tapping-cover-up-scandal/
Poor kid caught in the middle of all this, it's crazy and unhealthy and doesn't put best interest of children first. I've heard from a reliable source that parents of a boy in our academy have been offered £1m direct to move their son to another academy
Crazy. How could you turn that down as a parent? If that was City or Chelsea, even when people talk about the lack of any making it to first team, the chances of him still playing league football is as good as if he stayed at Ipswich.

For those who didn't watch it, the first leg of the Youth Cup Final finished 1-1 (goals from Ugbo and Foden). It was a competitive game, as you might expect, but there was a lot of very unconvincing shooting on display.
Everton u23s, league leaders, and likely champions, drew 2-2 with Chelsea tonight in a good, brisk, competitive game - the sort of game they have been trying to encourage for a few years now. Panzo started again (at left-back) and Ugbo scored the goals for Chelsea.
Just watched Arvin Appiah have a brilliant U23s debut vs Barnsley today. Made some brilliant runs, excellent passing, scored a cracking goal and might've got another - it's been credited to both him and as an own goal. Ironically the defender who it came off was on trial from Forest (Fredrik Nielsen).
I think that goal by Ugbo has just earned him a call up to the next England Squad, Cracking finish to be fair
Surprised he hasn't been involved as much this season. Hudson-Odoi has to be in with a shout for the Euros - he's been excellent all season and is having a great game tonight.
Hes a shoo-in surely? He's been impressive again tonight for Chelsea and if he's doesn't make the Euro's squad I will be very surprised plus if someone of his talent can't get in, then the talent we have at this level is immense.
It goes without saying Hudson will be in the u17 squad (injury permitting). That goal was an absolute cracker. He really went for it. Sterling, for me, has been looking like he was in cruise control for a little while now, but impressed last night with his positive play. Chelsea really dominated City. With City, for me, somewhat deficient in spirit - not least Sancho. That needs to be remedied.
A good, lively encounter, between Man U u23s and Arsenal last night. And a particularly entertaining end to end finish. United came from 2-0 down to snatch a draw, which should help to stop them from being relegated.
For those interested - there's graphics (correct term?) of the new scholars being posted up on the YouthHawk twitter account every few minutes atm.
Just in case we need to reference at some point. Leicester u18 squad. Includes u16s Bosworth, Gyamfi , Tavares. With Pennant injured.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...2/Huddersfield-consider-shutting-academy.html Huddersfield the next academy to go. Baffling timing with regards to this, when they are currently enjoying a £200m windfall, and the academy is seemingly producing some quality whilst being the only Yorkshire PL team and no-one really challenging that at the moment
I don't get it at all. Brentford only did it because Benham's business went tits up and he was majorly cost cutting.
And academies are expensive, and can imagine it is frustrating in London with lots of big clubs to compete with in the very close vicinity - that coupled with a smaller end Championship budget makes it understandable. This isn't.
It's a little bit disappointing how much Manchester United have been dipping into the foreign market for their youth team in the last year or so. It seemed like they'd slightly abandoned that tactic but they're leaning hard on it again. Traore, Baars, Ramazani, Puignal, Burkart (English mum but well in the Swiss system), Chong, Ercolani, Boonen to name a few. All basically between 16-18 at United right now. All bar Ercolani taking up attacking positions.
