except USL is not the problem, USL is willing to change...MLS doesn't want to change.

That's not the point. I can't see FIFA allowing the US to have two parallel divisons. They'd probably either tell the USL that the MLS was there first and refuse entry to CONCACAF competitions to USL teams or tell the USSF to sort out the mess.

Also, the MLS is operating the way it does for very valid reasons. They are building slowly and from where I'm standing doing a decent job.

teams don't have to spend money on DPs.
with revenue sharing and no pro/rel, where's the motivation...

have other teams buy DPs. lol

    damn it just hit me...

USL should forget about MLS and MLS should forget about pro/rel.

USL should be the breakthru league...USL has more fans anyway than MLS counting all the USL-1,USL-2,PDL,W-league, etc...

USL should have pro/rel within it's infrastructure, start getting contracts from tv networks, etc...I be the first US league to revolutionize soccer:)

Note the PDL championship game had 4,000 fans
while FC Dallas had one game around 6,000 and that's MAJOR league

The more likely thing is they tell the USSF to sort it out since the federations certify leagues as the top division, not FIFA.

Wait a second... You're comparing the Championship attendance of the Developmental league to the worst attended regular league match of the worst attended club in the league this season, and believes it proves your point?

Holy shit, WSW. This is by far the stupidest thing you've posted so far. USL has 84 f****ing teams just in their men's divisions while MLS has 15. No shit they have more people watching their games. You are also an idiot for not knowing that USL already has a form of pro/rel. Gawd. Try to actually know what your talking about before posting.

Ok... First, no need to cuss.

Second... If you used grammar, it might be easier to understand

Third... Do you really believe that FIFA would want USL-1, a league that is losing money so badly that the entire league is up for sale, to supersede MLS, a league they demanded themselves for World Cup '94, as the Division One football league in the USA?

it's too early anyways for pro/rel in MLS, I'm thinking maybe 20 years from now..

I hope some other group buys USL and make it strong.

Competition is good. Good Luck to USL

They already have that systemset up voluntarily.

Guess what, most teams don't use it unless it's to relegate to stay alive.

And they have a TV contract that they pay FSC to broadcast games.

This I completely agree with. I would like to see a strong USL-1, and 2 for that matter. The more professional soccer matches in the USA, the better. I want soccer to succeed, and to become profitable for owners, players, and sponsors. That way, there will never be another NASL folding again.

There are more owners in the EPL who want to do away with pro/rel than there are MLS owners who want to implement it. The EPL will stop relegation before MLS institutes it.

Anyone who thinks that MLS will ever have relegation needs to ask this question: Why in the world would any owner or group of owners wish to have his investment lose value?

Until it makes real economic sense for teams to risk becoming minor-league, which is to say, NEVER EVER, it will not happen. Nothing else, no other consideration, no amount of pissing and moaning about other leagues or so-called "competition from Europe," matters.

Anybody who thinks otherwise simply has no clue.

Promotion of some sort might be an option at some point (and no, Seattle, Vancouver and Portland don't qualify, because they didn't earn it on the field, they bought their way in, just like every other team), but no owner will ever agree to a system whereby his major-league investment becomes minor-league. The opinions of the coaches mean exactly as much as the opinions of BS posters, i.e., not one damned thing.

Why? because you are scared that it probably could happen.

All USL has do to do is open it's market to cities that don't have a pro team.

    what do you mean?

I was referring to cities that don't have a pro league...Las vegas, Sacramento, Oklahoma City, Boise, Topeka, etc...

actually USL could move to the fall-spring schedule like Blatter wanted MLS to implement.

There is a saying somewhere along the lines of "never argue with a fool, he'll be doing the same thing".
