    I see.
I'm a bit disappointed - imo the magazines in the 50s have pretty underwhelming content. It's mostly looking pretty with lots of pictures. :ROFLMAO:

    El Gráfico January 1942

Although no ratings for the 1941 campaign, there is no doubt that José Manuel Moreno was the outstanding footballer of that year, according to the magazine.

It says: “In the champion team of 1941, River Plate, during the year the notable forward José M. Moreno won the best of concepts, a star that is blessed with exceptional qualities in a position that so many other famous stars have shined”

Some brief observations of the whole 1983 year.

Bochini was the legendary ‘old school’ player that remained and was considered arguably the best player in the league at the time.

Francescoli had struggled at River Plate and his grades are modest at best, ranking 17th in the left volante position.

Fillol remained the top keeper, but Hugo’s Gatti’s fans would contest to that.

Marangoni was hyped up back then, considered the next “Pippo” Rossi.

It is of note that El Gráfico made it clear that Maradona ranked number 1 in the 1980 National competition, with what appears to be the highest rating ever printed from El Gráfico over a timespan of 40 years (1960-2000), at least according to the ratings of every season listed on this thread.

Maybe, the best for the resume, will be considering only First Division rankings, and not adding Nacional championships?

With them, there are players with 48 or 54 games per year!

Exceptional rating of Galván (7,37) in the Metro tournament (the highest of all-time), only surpassed by Maradona in the National of 1980 with a 7,46, but in way less matches.

To supplement the National tournament of 1980, I have only partial results of the 1980 first division Centennial IV Championship that consisted of 36 rounds.

Here is the ideal team per position through 17 rounds:

    3. Gallego 6,93
    3. Maradona 6,73
    4. Simon 6,60

A player had to at least feature in 13 games.

Also in the second page it shows the top rated players of every squad where it says “La Figura”.
