Preseason Scrimmage/Exhibition thread [R]

I'm impressed you went to a scrimmage. That's like more fans than an early round Cup match.

 

Sinc ethe team is not seemingly doing a game report for the DCU 1-1 tie - here is he line-up:

Assume there were more subs (i.e. Yaro, Epps, A. Jones, Elliott, Najem) but these were the only ones could see on twitter.

About that Sapong interview...I know it's a figure of speech that's pretty interchangeable with a tie, but one of my pet peeves has always been when people say "a point" or "three points" in reference to a result in preseason or a cup game. There are no points (although in cup games there are marbles).

 

My other pet peeve is when players and coaches talk about the importance of "getting a result."

Um, I'm pretty sure you're getting a "result" no matter what the final score is.

 

Apparently, the Union won 5-3 today against the U-17 USMNT. Goals by Fafa, Bedoya, Tribbett, Nanco and Moar. Unclear when the 16 year olds scored and who was on the field for the Union at the time.

 

Good to know our scrubs can't hold a group of kids to a clean sheet.

 

I complain about Coach Local. But man, those Hackworth teams were real bad.

 

This is very true.

 

Remember when Hack played Farfan and Daniel at the 10 or when he turned Wheeler into a CB? The fact that he has any role at all in USSF is a huge indictment on US Soccer.

 

Or when he was an accessory to Nowaks dehydration and corporal punishment techniques? I wouldn't let him cut my lawn.

Of course Curtin actually has a slightly worse record than Hackworth if you include the playoff loss (1.218 PPG vs. 1.219 PPG).
