    Hi Beat Followers!

Press releases to be posted on Big Soccer for you guys! Last night posted this on the website:

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (Mar. 19, 2010) – After back-to-back goals from Swiss forward, Ramona Bachmann, the Atlanta Beat Women’s Professional Soccer team defeated the U-20 U.S. Women’s National Team 2-0 in St. Augustine, Fl. Friday night.

“We are beginning to play well offensively,” said Beat Head Coach Gareth O’Sullivan. “Our defense is still improving, but Ramona Bachmann was on fire tonight.”

Bachmann scored the Beat’s opening goal just two minutes into the match after outpacing a defender to a well-placed, through ball from defenderr Stacy Bishop. Her second goal came when she dispossessed a defender to go one v. one against the goalkeeper.

Heading into the second half, O’Sullivan made six substitutions and confirms that both Ramona Bachmann and Johanna Rasmussen will miss the remainder of the Florida trip for call-ups with the Swiss and Danish National Teams respectively.

“The team is really coming together,” said the coach. “We had several opportunities to come away with a few more goals..." READ MORE

Strange! that when a team loses there are no reports on the game. On the Website USSoccer.com for the U20's there was very quickly a report on their draw with Boston Breakers. However a report on our game is sadly, very slow in coming - if at all!

Beat shutsout University of Florida 6-0
    [IMG]
KENNESAW, GA (Mar. 15, 2010) – The Atlanta Beat earn two shut-outs in two games after defeating the University of Florida 6-0 on Sunday night with two first-half and four second half goals in Gainesville, Fla.

Mexican forward Monica Ocampo Medina opened the Beat’s scoring in the 20th minute with a finish to the far post before midfielder Sophia Mundy rebounded a Marisha Schumacher-Hodge shot to finish the second goal of the first half.

As promised, “tonight we had a different starting 11,” said Head Coach Gareth O’Sullivan. “It was good to see all the players in a match environment where were able to create quality chances in the final third.”

Fifteen minutes into the second half, forward Kerri Hanks, who recently joined the Beat from Sky Blue FC (NJ), finished Ocampo’s service to the far post on a header, netting Beat goal number three...READ MORE

That's funny Cupidcat. Still no info on the game vs the U-20's on USSoccer.com. They put it up in a hurry when they win but seem to be awfully slow when they lose.

Not that I don't love a good conspiracy theory, but in this case I think you're incorrect. There's a much more basic explanation--the amount of info posted & available on the ussoccer site on the women's program at the various Uxx age groups is poor to terrible. Not putting up info on a scrimmage vs WPS clubs isn't surprising regardless of outcome. We had to go to the German FA site to get info on some of the USA U20 games at La Magna.

No, actually, it's typical. Even on the local level -- if a team loses they rarely call the score in to the paper. If they win, they talk about it for a good 15 minutes and then get all pissy when you don't have room for it.

I'm pretty sure if they had won, they'd have posted it immediately. :D

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL (Mar. 23, 2010) – The Atlanta Beat Women’s Professional Soccer team earns a fourth straight preseason win after defeating the Boston Breakers 2-1 on Tuesday night.

The Beat’s Monica Ocampo scored the game’s opening goal on a one-two combination with Japanese forward Mami Yamaguchi at 20 minutes into the first half. Yamaguchi finished one of her own after striking a direct kick in the top corner putting the Beat up 2-0 at the 60 minute mark.

“We scored two very nice goals,” said Beat Head Coach Gareth O’Sullivan. “We looked like we had a third goal in us, and the team showed great character to pull-out the win after Boston scored late in the second half.”

Breaker’s forward Claire Zimmeck scored the lone Boston finish with less than 15 minutes to go. However O’Sullivan notes that the Beat “played solid across the back tonight.”
“With every preseason game, we are looking to ..." READ MORE

I think that it is not a bad thing to lose sometimes. It brings one back down to earth and shows how quickly circumstances can change!
    Super that Shelley scored though.

I really hope Hanks finds a place on this team. I am only 2 hours away from Atlanta. I would make that drive to see her.

The Atlanta WPS website still hasn't put up the 2 to 1 loss to Florida State loss thus proving Cupid Cat and I's point. Teams will post wins immediately and 2 day's after a loss there is still nothing on the game.

Sadly - I must admit that we are no better than the rest of the bunch.

However I think that the operators of Atlanta Beat's home page read this forum too.

So COME ON GUYS! Let us prove to the rest that we are different.

    Hey Fans,

Our bad on this. Here ya go

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Atlanta Beat took its first preseason loss Thursday evening after falling 2-1 to Florida State University at the Seminole Soccer Complex in Tallahasse, Fla. The match marked the return of former Seminole All-American and 2007 MAC Hermann Trophy winner Mami Yamaguchi as she prepares for her regular season debut in the Women’s Professional Soccer.

Florida State took the early lead on a goal by Tiffany McCarty just 40 seconds into the start of the game. The goal came when a Beat clearance took an strange bounce landing at McCarty’s foot for a first time shot.

The Beat came close to tying in the 26th minute as Sophia Mundy’s strike (inside the left post) was saved by FSU keeper Kelsey Wys leading Seminoles into the half up 1-0.

During the halftime break, FSU extended a warm welcome to former Seminole All-American Mami Yamaguchi, who the Beat selected in the 2009 WPS International Draft.

Following Yamguchi's recognition, the Beat fired straight out of the gates with Rebecca Nolin’s header saved by the Seminole keeper. Soon following was the Beat's first goal as German international Shelley Thompson collected a rebound off the crossbar in the 52nd. FSU would regain the lead off a shot from Janice Cayman on the game-winner.

Atlanta had chances from Kerri Hanks on a redirection, McCall Zerboni in the 75th, and on a free kick from Stacy Bishop in the 88th. Midfielder Amanda Cinalli left the match sustaining a rib injury.

The Beat returns to action against the University of North Carolina on Sunday, March 28 on the game field at Kennesaw State University at NOON.
