First real preseason game is upon us. Columbus Crew vs Chicago Fire, Saturday, February 16th @ 5:00pm. How to watch: https://www.charlestonbattery.com/ GET FUKT!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Preseason grouchy points to award? I need to warm up for my meaningless internet message board competition this year folks!
Can anyone tell if the stream will be archived/put on youtube? I can't watch live. Dinner with the fam and then off to the Newport to see Lucie Silvas and Anderson East with the wife (humble brag). I'd love to watch the game when I get home.
Looking back at the 2018 lineups, Gregg definitely trotted out his starters and really only experimented with the lineup in the matchup vs Charleston which was the 2nd game (same as this year). I anticipate Porter will do the same so lineup decisions that might shine some light on Porter's thinking will be how much time do any of the backup keeps get, what is his preferred CB pairing or is he still working on that, how quick the trigger will be on subbing off the presumptive starting wingers (Meram and Santos) if they aren't performing or are any of the other guys fighting for a starting position/increased playing time and lastly will Zardes be the man up top or will Mullins and JJ Williams be deployed as a second forward or sub on a regular basis. Formation wise, all signs point to a continuation of the 4-2-3-1 but will be interesting to see if there's any flexibility to switching that in game. I think we'll get a decent look at how at least the first half of the season is going to go lineup and formation wise. Lastly, I think we'll be able to tell what the plan is for JJ Williams, Crognale, and Keita. I think if any of them see a lot of minutes this week, they'll probably be candidates for inclusion in the MLS gameday rosters. If not, I think USL loans will be happening. To a lesser extent, we might be able to tell how much any of the academy players fit into the future if they get playing time. I'm excited to watch some Crew!
I've been pondering in my head how we'd look if Nagbe joined us. A 4-3-3 came to mind with Trapp, Artur and Nagbe forming that middle triangle. Pipa floating wide left in a Valeri style, not touch line wide but out there to have space and time. JJ up top with Zardes on the other side (or Zardes up top and one of our eleventy wingers wide). I'm not sure we can do this without someone like Nagbe to shuttle the ball from back to front with some skill and pace. But, that move seems unlikely to happen. I really can't wait to see the2019 version of this team. I wish I was making the trip to Charleston for this one. This has obviously been the longest offseason of all time. The fact that we're 2 weeks away from our home opener has me giddy. Anyway. I hope I can watch this one on replay somewhere. I'll be bummed if I can't.
Here you go my Zman. https://matchcenter.charlestonbattery.com/ Click where it says "USL Season 2019" and a drop down menu will pop up, go 2019->CCC and the three matchdays will show up. They have the 2018 CCC fully archived and the Battery's matches from the 2017 CCC available. C’mon, people. I’m at my favorite local pub, otherwise occupied. I shouldn’t have to take my attention away from a chili tasting and goodbye party for an about-to-move quality bartender in order to post the starting XI.
So.... no video I guess? Nevermind... I see the stream doesn't work on Firefox..... EDIT: and as soon as I get this shit to work on chrome... trapp is sent off. Great, not gonna bother, will just check out highlights.
Same. Getting 10min+ pauses in stream. Only saw the graphic of a straight red for Trapp. Wonder what he did.
