    1. Each week, every manager has 1 free transfer that does not cost 4 points. These can't be saved up. Use it or lose it.

    2. I made the decision last year to go for the cup competitions. Hence I made lots of transfers which cost me mega points in the overall table standings according to Fantasy.premierleague.com. I made this decision base on not having the ability to have Henry, Van Nistelrooy, and Beattie all on my Very Small Rocks team due to the draft and each player can only be on one team. Thus, my reasoning was that the draft league teams are not likely to be competitive compared to undrafted teams, say, in The Premier League Division.

    3. With the 50 % transfer fee on profits, rounded up to the nearest .1 M, it will slow the increase in team valuations. The fear is that if you don't get the top players now, you'll never be able to afford them.

    4. Another concern is on the highest priced players. A player's value fluctuates based on how many mangers transfer that player in vs transfer that player out each week. With most managers grabbing the highest priced players, the downside financially is much more than the up side. Drop them quick if they get injured if in a non-draft league. But in the drafted league, it's tough to let go of injured players so you ride the drop in player valuation and having so much invested in a non-playing bench player.

    5. I think Michel mentioned it in one of the forum posts in The Premier League division - Who will be the 3.0 and 4.0 surprises this season? Who will be the Rooney's, the Sun's, the Hibbert's? Every manager should watch the first few games closely and grab those bargain players who play regularly and ride their quick valuation raise by 1-2 M so you make a tidy profit when you sell them. Then you can get the mid level players who you couldn't afford before with the high priced players.

    6. A common source of these surprises are the transfers in and the players for the newly promoted teams. Does anyone have a good read on the likely starting line-ups for the newbies, especially with their aggressive strengthening campaigns?

    7. I think it was quite shrewd of Michel to pick up Postiga with his first pick. Helps avoid salary cap problems; takes a player whose value is more likely to rise than decline; and allows him to build a team that includes a bench of starting players so that the automatic substitution rule can help run up your score.

    Thanks Hal,

That was the idea.... but now that Hoddle has signed Kanoute as well, I'm wondering if I might have drafted another Rebrov.

    :(

    Good points Hal.

The new Hibberts, Suns and Rooney's of last year will be interesting. Rooney is now worth 9m. LOL.

As the last person in the draft I may have to play some tricks or use black magic or something. Having 9 people pick ahead of you is bad news. My brain is hurting waiting to see who gets picked.

This is gonna be a great draft though, different strategies, some very experienced players. Many of the players did really well overall last season in cup contests and in the wider league. It is gonna be difficult to slip in an unexpected pick here or there as those that have done their research will have earmarked them.

I expect a lot of "I was just about to pick him posts".

My advice, "don't wait for the next round to pick someone you have in mind, pick 'em now!"

    90 minutes to go ...

Welcome back Jay. Can you take Olfin Utd off the league site and we'll have 10 on there. We have 11 right now.

I think you have the mod power to do this.

Will we be using the forums on the League page??? id get confused if we do, but i can work it out if you guys want too... also when we post we should have some kind of table to show, 1) what player we picked 2) the round 3) the cost of the player... thats all i can think of so for me, it would go...

    winning connection
    Henry, rnd 1, 12mill

    ??????, rnd 2, ??mill

it might also be helpful to list the players taken in the draft...
