UNION BUSTING PHILLY INVASION Join Barra Brava in Philadelphia on April 10, 2010 for the inaugural D.C. United v. Philadelphia Union match. Game Time: April 10, 2010 6:00 p.m. Location: Lincoln Financial Field (Home of the Eagles – the new stadium is not open) This is the first home game for the Union and their front office is still finding their way. As of right now there are many details we do not know, including the price of tickets, the final availability of tickets, or where we will be located in the stadium. There are several things we do know. The most important thing we do know right now is that RIGHT NOW THERE IS A LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS AVAILABLE. IF YOU WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE YOU MAY GET LOCKED OUT. We expect several hundred Barra Brava to make the trip. The Barra, the D.C. front office and even the league are working to secure additional tickets, but there are no guarantees. Additionally, the demand for this game will be unprecedented. The Union Front Office is downsizing Lincoln field and limiting tickets for this game to create demand (like Seattle). The more people we have confirmed the more tickets we should be able to secure. I urge you to secure your place now. All spaces are first come first served. In order to reserve your spot please email Jay Igiel Road Trip Coodinator at jigiel @ nealon.com [remove spaces], include in your subject line "Philly" and specify which option you are electing. Remember with we need enough people to book buses. For example if a bus seats 50 and we have 60 people then 10 people are out luck unless we have enough people and tickets to book another bus. There are three Options for the trip described below. OPTION 1 – TICKET AND GAME DAY BUS TRIP The Bus would leave Saturday Morning and return after the game. OPTION 2 – ATLANTIC CITY Obviously, the details are still being sorted out. The bus would leave Friday afternoon for Atlantic City. We would spend Friday Night in AC at a hotel and depart for the match Saturday morning. The bus would return after the game. We do not have this trip priced out yet but expect the total to be around $150-200 depending on the price of tickets. If for some reason the AC trip does not come together you will have a spot on one of the game day busses. OPTION 3 – TICKET ONLY Ticket only. You would be responsible for transportation to/from the game. SCRUGS RULE APPLIES. POSTING IN THIS THREAD THAT YOU ARE COMING IS NOT CONFIRMATION ONLY AN EMAIL TO ME IS
I know you guys are still working on the details, but do you have any idea what the price range would be for the game day bus? Also since my friends and I are 17, would we need to be accompanied by a guardian rolleyes:)? Thanks.
a rough estimate (ball park figure) for the bus would be awesome because as it is just a two hour drive i am inclined to drive myself on the $40 of gas or so it would cost. also is there any way we could get a block of hotel rooms in philly for those of us wanting to spend saturday night up there?
Yes. You would need to be accompanied by a Guardian. We would also require permission slips from each of the parents. Sorry, but we can not be liable for transporting minors across state lines on a bus with booze on it without covering our asses. If there are enough people who want to spend saturday night in Philly I am willing to do. However, to date I have not heard any other request for hotel rooms. We should have a rough estimate in day in or so. Weare working on that right now.
well i know for sure of 4 barras who plan on spending saturday night in philly... getting a hotel on our own is not a problem, but it would be nice to have all barras in the same hotel so that we can travel to the stadium together.
Jay, it was posted on the main board that this game actually has a 6 pm start time. Can you confirm this? This could change peoples plans.
Chico, thanks for catching that. The game is now listed as 6:00 p.m. Start time. It was originally announced as start time at 3. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/so...home_openers_in_2010.html?wprss=soccerinsider
As always, Jay, thank you for taking care of this. I am sure it is a big pain in the butt and truly appreciate! Mail sent confirming 4 Tix for Option 3.
If you don't feel like driving for some reason, in addition to train and Greyhound, the Chinatown buses (and their competitors) do the DC <--> Philly r/t for pretty darn cheap.
Ticket request sent in. And, copied from email: IF there are multiple buses could ONE, perhaps, do a pickup on the WEST side of the Metro area? Would simplify things for those in the west side of DC, Montgomery, Frederick, etc. The Grosvenor - Strathmore Metro garage provides free weekend parking, Metro, and easy access to I-495. Jay: Thanks for organizing.
Not that this is big news, but it will at least help keep this thread toward the top, since it's not a sticky: this will be my first Barra road trip. This may or not be good news
