We are a couple weeks or so away from a bunch of World Cup prep friendlies ((and friendlies not involving Word Cup teams) and surprisingly there's not much word on which ones will be televised yet. Anyone have any info" @socceraction?
http://www.livesoccertv.com/competitions/international/friendly/ says: Monday May 28: USA vs. Bolivia at 6:30 P.M. on FS1 Mexico vs. Wales at 9:00 P.M. on FS1 Saturday June 2: Mexico vs. Scotland at 8:00 P.M. on FS1 Thursday June 7: England vs. Costa Rica at 3:00 P.M. on FS1
These friendlies are sold on an individual level so I expect a flurry of info sometime next week. But you are right: very few listings out there now. Besides the ones Evan mentioned above, I see Rep. of Ireland vs USA on June 2nd on ESPN2. I expect plenty of matches on ESPN (especially espn3 & 'Plus'); Fox will pick up a few as lead-ins to the WC; and I expect beIN to be show the South American teams in action. I'll have a page up for all the friendlies on TV soon. I already added most of the known friendlies to the Calendar page. SA www.soccertvblog.com
beINSports will have Peru v Scotland, May 29th. That's all I see on the advanced schedule so far... SA www.soccertvblog.com
ESPN have started listing some matches. Mainly on ESPN Deportes. They will have: - Slovakia vs. Netherlands (May 29) - Austria vs. Russia (May 30) - Czech Republic vs. Australia (June 1) - France vs. Italy (June 1) - Austria vs. Germany (June 2) - Belgium vs. Portugal (June 2) - Spain vs. Switzerland (June 3) - Italy vs. Netherlands (June 4) - Belgium vs. Egypt (June 6) - Germany vs. Saudi Arabia (June 8) - Tunisia vs. Spain (June 9) - France vs. United States (June 9) ESPN - Belgium vs. Costa Rica (June 11) - United States vs. China (June 12) ESPN2 SA www.soccertvblog.com
https://www.ussoccer.com/schedule-tickets says the USA Women are playing China twice, June 7 at 9:00 P.M. on FS1 and June 12 at 7:00 P.M. on ESPN2. The June 7 game will be at Rio Tinto, and the June 12 game will be in Cleveland.
http://soccertvblog.com/friendlies-tv/ has more from socceraction (this excludes what has been posted before): Monday May 28: Portugal vs. Tunisia at 2:45 P.M. on both beIN channels (coverage starts at 2:30 P.M.) France vs. Ireland at 3:00 P.M. on ESPN Deportes Italy vs. Saudi Arabia at 5:00 P.M. on ESPN Deportes (it will be live on ESPN3 at 2:45 P.M. and shown delayed) Tuesday May 29: Peru vs. Scotland at 9:00 P.M. on Pay Per View (socceraction doesn't provide details) (it will be on beIN Sports delayed on Thursday May 31 at 10:00 P.M. in English and 10:30 P.M. in Spanish) Saturday June 2: England vs. Nigeria at 12:15 P.M. on Fox Soccer Plus
Not sure how many providers are offering the match but DirecTV, for example, is offering it for $34.95 (it will be on channel 121). It's likely also on Dish, Comcast, etc. Whoever controls the Peruvian TV rights in the US is sticking to a model that has been outdated for a decade now. Hard to believe they can get enough PPV dollars to cover the costs - especially for a friendly like this. But perhaps I underestimate the demand from Peruvians to watch their national team. Maybe. This is the first time they have qualified for a World Cup in over 36 years so a sendoff match like this is going to be special and make some of their fans very sentimental. Especially the old fans that have no idea what the internet is or how to use it.
A few more updates today to the listings: - Brazil v Croatia (June 3rd) now confirmed for beINSports-1 & ñ - Sweden vs Denmark (June 2nd) will be on beINSports-CONNECT and delayed same-day on both networks. - Norway v Panama (June 6) will be live on beINSports-ñ. - All matches slated for ESPN Deportes will have english language coverage on espn3. A couple of other matches confirmed for beINSports after June 6th (hope to update website this weekend) - Portugal v Algeria (June 7) - Poland v China (June 8) Int'l Friendlies: http://soccertvblog.com/friendlies-tv/ SA www.soccertvblog.com
We are playing Chile, not China, on that date. But it would be AWESOME if BeIn would show it, either on tv or online.
It is Chile. Sorry. Happy to report that that match will be LIVE on both TV networks! SA www.soccertvblog.com
