Aloha Crew fans, I'm a U Akron alum and Akron native living in Honolulu. The Crew are scheduled to play at Aloha Stadium here on Feb 8th and 10th in a pre-season tournament with Vancouver Whitecaps FC and two J-League teams from Japan. I wonder if there has been ANY publicity on the event in Ohio? Any chance of any fan following to O'ahu for this? It's 80 degrees most days, and mostly sunny, if that helps you make a travel decision. In seriousness though, I've been unable to find out when the teams may arrive. Does anyone there have any info to share? I know that the two players, Wil and Zack are in USMNT camp in Carson, so not sure if they will be delayed in coming to Hawaii. I am not aware of any TV or video coverage, outside of a Japan website I read about. In past years ESPN has broadcast pre-season games from here, but unlikely this year. This will be I think the fifth time in past fifteen years that we have hosted MLS pre-season games, including LA Galaxy, Houston Dynamo, Colorado Rapids, etc. If anyone has info or questions I'm here to share... #SavetheCrew
According to the Massive Report, we defeated the mighty Rapids at our first preseason scrimmage, and Crew legend Gyasi Zardes bagged a goal. Undefeated in the Zardes Era, baby!
If we win the first game, I believe the second game is at 7pm Hawaii time. If that happens I will be there for the second! Arriving in Honolulu around 330 local time.
The juggernaut continues to rumble along! The Crew bag their second win of the preseason. Still undefeated in the Zardes Era!
Buncha Nancy's. Green sux the fat one. At least those assholes at Jackson aren't a bunch of cheaters.
For Timon and Chelsey: you'e gonna want to watch that Colin Biros kid. He' a Crew homegrown out of Canton, graduati g from Jackson, committed to Akron next fall. Kid is reportedly the real thing.
Somewhere, Ron Jaworski, Wilbert Montgomery, & Harold Charmichael are smiling. And that is a good thing.
Does anyone know what position he was at in that game? Looking back at his Academy games this past year he spent all of his time at left wing or the 10.
Green > Jackson. I will look forward to watching him from my cushy season ticket seat at UA. Also, I can name drop now as though I had time to keep up with these sort of things. Thanks!
Yah know, during the game, I kept thinking of Carmichael, given that one of our receivers, and a reasonably tall one (tho nowhere near as tall as Carmichael) at that, was wearing his #17. Good article on him (youse guys will forgive me if I jump the thread for a second) http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/article_d35b5e9e-087d-11e8-942a-f71a31a8f7b6.html
If you're going to quote me while employing a Latin adverb which roughly translates as "illiterate idiot" I may elect to take offense, madam. You send your kids to Jackson to learn how to be arrogant assholes. Kids from Green already have that down.
Lot of problems in Canton lately ? Geesh i enjoyed my time there and like the ppl from both Green and Jackson that I met during my time at Canton United
CVCA might be cheaper. Mookie played soccer with a kid who went to Western Reserve Academy in Hudson. I don't know if you can Google their tuition but I've been told a year at Yale is cheaper. Incredible kid though. Went to West Point.
I knew a kid who claimed to have earned the lowest GPA in the history of Walsh Jesuit. He was also, luckily, an All-State soccer player so they really worked hard at keeping him around. They did finally have to give up and send him to Hudson
