As a question about the salary caps, what's wrong with paying somebody a pittance and then Red Bull signing them to a very lucrative "Sponsorship" deal to offset the losses?
Don Garber basically said what you just wrote last week when he was down in DC about the NY market. That is why I think you will see changes next year.
This is what I mean; this is to be expected; this is why it won't happen. Sometimes I think I'd be happier if there were no New York team in MLS. I could spend Saturdays at Nevada Smiths, follow the EPL, pretend MLS doesn't exist. For most of New York, and for the major media outlets, it doesn't. Maybe there are simply too many professional teams here of really top quality for anyone to take Red Bulls or the 5-and-dime MLS seriously. It's not Prime Time, it's not Broadway, it's not Wall Street. It's amateur night in Dixie.
Red Bulls are going to get Twellman? This is along the lines how I could envision Beckham coming to the US when "he is ready." MLS major sponsor - Adidas, Beckham-Adidas. On another note, can MLS stop have both teams wear the same color shorts? Freakin' annoying with both wearing white the other night. Can one of the equipment managers have an alternate color ready to go? They really aren't too expensive and don't take up too much space when packing for a trip.
They are making it real hard to keep on keeping on....... Loved seeing Jolly back on the field and Jeff Conway looked good. That was it.
I think New York would be in Masie and not Dixie. Say this out loud, it's disgusting: oh, one, and five.
