Rapids host DC United in the first match of the Steve Cooke era: SITE: Dick's Sporting Goods Park in beautiful Commerce City, CO (somewhat near Denver) TIME: 7 PM MT TV: Altitude I'll be interested to see if there are lineup changes: Will Nana Boateng start to try to get some attacking presence from the center of the park? Which CBs will start? How will Doyle and Badji be deployed?
Prediction: these are 2 poor teams, 1 with a new coach and playing at home. Being optimistic for positive changes and a "new coach bounce", Rapids 2:1 DCU.
I am anxiety awaiting the lineup choices, add in regime change and out of playoffs could see lots of changes I am thinking.
The players aren't going to magically develop incredible chemistry and finishing ability just by virtue of Pablo leaving.
For the spoon: We are too far ahead of DC to catch them for the spoon as we do have two games in hand as well as the shot gain a few ties. I actually think that the team will respond to the lose of their coach with an effort. We'll see, but I do like the 4-0 score. R
Boy, when these two teams get together, you can throw out the record books. You can also poor gas on them and set them on fire. Can't help but think the Rapids have a reason to play harder. 2-1 win with Doyle and Ford scoring.
PRO's assignments: REF: ALEX CHILOWICZ AR1: Frank Anderson AR2: Jason White 4TH: Baldomero Toledo VAR: Hilario Grajeda And the all-anagram PRO list: REF: AW, ZILCH OX LICE AR1: Rad Neon Franks AR2: I, John, Sweat 4TH: Ole Room Deadbolt VAR: Go, Jail Diarrhea!
C'mon now. If any team can overcome a three-point differential with two games in hand to win the Spoon, it's the Rapids. After all . . .
I'm guessing at some point in the match we'll see Gil and Aigner. I know that Aigner isn't match fit, but he could be good for 10 -15 minutes at the end of the match. It'll be interesting to see the reaction of both the players and fans to the coaching change. I have to admit, I am more interested in this match than I have been for months.
Given it doesn't much matter anyhow, I'd like to see Gil, Serna, Boateng, Ford, and Gatt get as many consistent minutes as possible the rest of the way.

2-1 win, goals by Doyle and Gashi. I think the Rapids come out more energized with a more attacking focus. This hurts them a bit in the back but the team doesn't feel constrained to win 1-0 so they go out and outplay DC to get the win. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2017/08/a-new-rapids-era-starts-tonight.html
Anagram in honor of Pablo: Wile Coax Zilch (wily as a player, but coaxed zilch out of the team as a coach)
Wait...there's a team on the field? You're talking about the team in yellow, right? There are 20 other guys running around, but I'm not sure why they're there.
