The USA has a huge pool of people from all corners of the World that love football. There's not many Nations that have the population and the melting pot from all over the World like the USA. And the Enthusiasm will be there from all sorts of people living here.
It is not my Narrative. It is how it will be spun politically. My narrative is that the better Host would have won with or without Trump because even a 5 year old could see what the better option was.
I think one of the unintended consequences of all the small/mid-size nations pushing for a 48-team World Cup is the fact that having 48 teams makes all that more difficult for a developing nation to host in the future. It's not just the "white elephant" stadium issue, but also the fact that now you have to provide training bases for 48 teams, not 32, which is also a huge burden.
And even for 32 teams Qatar is saying they may not be able to host all 32 teams training bases. Iran and other Countries may have to help.
Most of us in the US will be much calmer about life in general when that comes to pass. (Remember that he lost the popular vote....)
Well actually now a days it's safer to be viewed as an enemy of the US to avoid sanctions than an ally --- just ask Canada, Mexico and the European Union!!! I kid, I kid -- PLEASE NO POLITICAL SERIOUSNESS ON THIS THREAD...I hate that stuff.
Something no one is really talking about is that this can be great for not only the USA and Mexico and Canada but also those smaller nations in CONCACAF who have dreamed about reaching a World Cup and will get a much better chance now with this bid. Teams like El Salvador and Guatemala and Honduras can benefit greatly by this decision if they Qualify or make the November 2025 Playoff tournament. There are many fans from those Nations here in the USA (and in Canada) and they are stoked by the better chance of reaching the biggest Stage in 2026. This is a win for all of CONCACAF if you think about it.
Isn't the benefit for the smaller nations more the result of the expansion from 3.5 CONCACAF teams to 6 teams? While this will increase the number of CONCACAF teams to 7, the big jump is due to the increase in teams starting 2026 than the hosting.
Congratulations! Hopefully I get to watch a game in North America, hopefully England lifting the cup! Don't forget about us for 2034
Dug in to the Brazilian reports and what I understand is that since del Nero's life time ban the new interim president has been an older semi senile gentleman, Colonel Nunes, who apparently voted for Morocco because he thought the vote was secret. Also reported: when seeing a body of water, Colonel Nunes asked "is that the yellow sea?" "It's called the Black Sea" "Oh! Well it looks blue!" Some people think that electing the right USSF president will make the US a great soccer nation. They should see the parade of idiots that govern South American fútbol.
The Government of Quebec will spend between $200M and $300M on Montreal's Olympic Stadium to have the being retractable. Olympic Stadium will have a retractable roof in time for 2026 World Cup http://montrealgazette.com/sports/s...a-retractable-roof-in-time-for-2026-world-cup There will be additional upgrades to modify the stadium as a whole which was already planned.
Actually nobody knows why he voted that way. It's speculation that he thought the vote was anonymous, but that wasn't the reason why he voted for Morocco. He said it's because the US and Mexico have already hosted it. The other reason could be he holds a grudge because of the US / FBI sting.
Either way, being the only nation in the hemisphere to go back on your promise only to vote for the loser is some majorly weird stuff.
Maybe the answer to this question has already been covered in the bid document and I'm the only person who doesn't know it, but: Will MLS try to get away with the two-week World Cup break it is doing now or will it have to take a full-tournament break. I hope it is the latter.
To be fair, the investigation sure did seem “coincidental” considering it was after we lost the last World Cup bid.
And you honestly think CONCACAF's 8th has a chance? We're talking about El Salvador / Trinidad & Tobago / Curacao / Haiti type teams.
They wont exactly be playing Brazil and Argentina there though. Against Tahiti and Thailand they may be a chance.
