Just curious how my itinerary stacks up against some of yours. I'll be in Brazil for 2.5 weeks. So far: - Flights - just under $2000 - Accommodations - $700 - Matches - $720 - Food/Attractions/Misc. - $500 Total = ~$3920 Notes: My itinerary is in my signature. I will be visiting 5 cities and as of right now will be attending 4 matches.
In order to have a fair comparison, you need to post where you are flying from. I have a similar itinerary to yours but there is no way my flights to Brazil and 5 flights within Brazil cost as low as what you indicated up there. Also, when posting accommodation, it's a good idea to spell it out as in staying at a hotel VS hostel as the difference is HUGE
Unless you have family in the cities you're visiting - a 2 week trip is $10k or more IMO for a couple ($5k each .. $7k as a higher estimate). Flying from the US, 5 games, food/entertainment, hotel, transportation (cabs/flights) etc..
Going to Rio from Denver (June 14th to June 23rd, 9 nights) Flights: Denver to Rio $1825.00 Rio to SP $232.00 Match Tickets $405 ( 3 first rd games in Rio and Eng. vs Uru in SP) Accomodation for 10 days in Leblon $1600.00 (private condo) Accomodation in SP for 1 night $50.00 (Ibis Sao Paulo Paulista) I plan on spending about $200 on tours/sightseeing if I have the time. And my plan is to spend about $100 a day while I'm there (food, drinks, souvenirs, etc.) Hopefully it will be a lot less than that but I doubt it. My trip will cost me about $4112 not including spending money and sightseeing/tour money.
On my 6 week trip -- Spent about $3k on tickets (I'm also taking a guest to 4 of the matches). Flight to Brazil was $1k. Internal flights within Brazil - about $1300. Hotel probably about $1100 for about 8 nights - rest will be staying with my family.
I have a TST-7 for Chile, flying in from JFK. My itinerary will be Cuiaba Jun 10-15, Rio Jun 15-21, SP Jun 21-25, then depending where Chile finishes in the group either BH Jun 25-30, Fortaleza Jun 30 - Jul 6, BH Jul 6-10, or Fortaleza Jun 25-30, Salvador Jun 30 - Jul 6, SP Jul 6-10, and then for both itineraries Rio Jul 10-15. The following are the costs for 2 people: International flights (going to Chile before heading back to JFK): $3300 Domestic flights not including second round: $740 Accommodation for 35 days: $4300 Second Round flights: either $1600 or $1200 Tickets: $2772 Total: ~$12,500 for 2 people. Then between transportation, food, sightseeing and a couple souvenirs, I'm estimating an extra 50 per day so around $14 -15,000 USD in total.
London to Manaus (via SP) 3 nights, Manaus to Rio (4 nights), Rio to SP (1 night), SP to London £1650 for the flights. Hotels are coming in around £500 each, match tickets Cat 1 $175 per match.
Flights from US to Recife (stopover in SP) - about $1300/person Tix to 3 games - about $600/person ($200 per game for cat 1) Renting an apartment - about $1,000/week, for apt that sleeps 4+ people, so about $500/person for two weeks (through friend-of-a-friend. The open market is about 2x that) That doesn't count parking at the airport in the US, ground transportation in Brazil, or food/drink while there. Rough numbers $2,500+ food/drink/transport per person for two weeks, so figuring about $3K/person total. Of course, if you stay shorter, the hotel is cheaper, but you can't amortize the airline costs either.
9 nights. June 11-20. Matches and cities in signature. Traveling with my dad Flights: miles + $100 for int'l flights. About $1400 for internal flights. Used points for stays in São Paulo and salvador. $750 for 3 nights in pipa. $1400 for 2 nights in Rio. About $1100 for match tickets, but could be spending another $2k in order to get opening match (if I don't get them through fifa) Plan on eating a lot of good food and drinking a lot of cold beers

I'm in Brazil from 28th Jun to 14 July with my brother. So far I'm going to 49, 56, 58, 60, 61 and looking for 62/64 to complete the perfect trip. I only have accomodation in Salvador and Rio with day trips to Belo Horizonte/Brasilia/Sao Paulo planned. Total cost - a lot! Not sure, would need to check.
In Brasil June 6th to July 17th. How much did it cost? Two years with no holiday. ~£500 per month into a savings account for 68 months. Endless arguments with Karen (my partner) about what are we going to do with the teenager - she didn't want to come (I found it hard not to hide my delight). We have friends who are going to teenage sit, and then she's off to London for three weeks with old school friends. Nights & nights of planning. Marathon quest for tickets (thanks all Big Soccer people who have helped). A new wardrobe, bought more clothes in the last three weeks than in the preceding five years - one thing Karen is pleased about. A Pimsleur Portuguese course - great investment. On actual stuff. Flight from London - £2,500 (two flights) Internal Flights - £1,000 (seven flights, three x 2) Accommodation - ~£5,000 in total, including a 3-bed place in Rio for the entire tournament Tickets - ~£3,000 so far, 39 tickets Pre-planning stuff - £500 Intend to spend a shed load on food, drink & entertainment. Have ~£20,000 left in the savings and will be very disappointed if any of it gets diverted to kitchen improvements or such like, rather than spent on beer.
Flights: London-Brazil £1185 Internal flights/buses: £1100 match tickets: £630 (with £60 lost as Bosnia/Iran won't re-sell and I won't be in country to watch) accomodation: £1050

June 6 til July 20th, for both of us (wife and I) approx 25-30K ($AUS) I guess. Our international flights are only about $2000 each but we have Cat 1 TST-7's (Belgium) so that cost a bunch, and we are staying in a mix of hostels and hotels (somewhere around 6-7K) and a heap of flights (probably 2.5-3K) Visiting Sao Paulo, Fortaleza, Natal, Pipa, Rio, Curitiba, Iguassu, and the depending on what Belgium does in the group stages either Fortaleza and Brasilia or Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte, a few of these places we go to more than once... we are going to 11 games; all Belgium group games, URU-CRC, GHA-USA, URU-ENG, AUS-ESP (plus in the unlikely event that we can get tickets, the opening game). We hope to spend about $1000-1200 a week on food, drink and taxis/public transport.

I'll have the cheapest WC of all people, for obvious reasons 880 reais for 8 tickets (incl. 3 I bought for my father and brother) 400 reais = 100 reais per game day to go/get back/spend in São Paulo (4 matches) 480 reais + miles for SP-Salvador roundtrip to see QF 1760 reais = ~$800 spent to see 5 matches
I booked 22 days off from work - I am a manager here - they know i've been talking about it for years, so its all good. I get 4 weeks per year, so I saved some up and booked em off. Im assuming others did the same - or they maybe took 2 weeks vacation and 1-2 weeks unpaid
No holiday for two years, and told the boss when they hired me this was a condition, I don't think that they thought I would do it for the entire time. Now there is only envy!!!!
