Yes, a draw (or loss) and they set that record. A loss and they set a team record for longest losing streak.
A win! An actual win! Abubakar MOTM for me. With a typical Rapids CB performance we would have lost 2-1 or worse.
Even with the win: Bodmer Line: 38/22 = 1.727 PPG (points needed to snag last playoff spot at 43 point average divided by games remaining) Kroenke Line: 24/22 = 0.955 PPG (maximum points that can be earned to win the average Wooden Spoon at just over 26 points). Worse, the second place team in the Spoon race is on pace for 28.9 points. The Rapids still lead the race for the Spoon by six points. Hudson Line: = 0.455 PPG (no more than 10 points in 22 remaining matches), measuring thePPG needed to become the worst team in MLS history. The current record is 16 points, held by D.C. United (3-24-7 in 2013). Rapids: 1-9-2, with 5 points in 12 matches = 0.417 PPG, on pace for 14.2 points for the season. They already completed the worst first third of a season (2 points) in MLS history. Next record up for challenge: the worst first half season in MLS history. The current record holder (16 games) is Chivas USA, 1-12-3 (6 points), 0.375 PPG, in 2005. Rapids: surrendering 2.5 goals per match, on pace to surrender 85.0 goals for the season. The current MLS record is 74 goals allowed (Orlando City, 2018).
So how many points for when you, what do you call it, when you have more goals than the other team at the whistle?
I told you guys to have patience. All the negativity! Shame. Patience gentlemen is the key to success.
Seriously, Rapids deserved the win. They were the better team. Not playing Anderson and Vines was critical. Abu has changed the defense. I think he and Tim have bonded. Us against the world mentality.
