From that list I picked Gio, Guardado, and Juan "Cambios" Osorio Players that surprised me or changed my opinion on them were Aquino and to a certain extend Luis Reyes. Aquino was one of better attacking players. Hope he goes back to Europe rather than rot at Tigres. And Luis Reyes played well I thought against Russia and Portugal. Crazy what putting a player in his natural position will do
Jonathan dos Santos. In reality the team as a whole was a disappointment. Defenders can't defend. only 3 players in the roster know how to pass, and the strikers cannot generate for themselves/missed plenty of chances.
the difference in quality was noticeable when we played better teams, we just need to focus on creating better overall players
The crazy thing is that if Osorio keeps selecting these players named here instead of looking elsewhere, the problem is going to be him
Alanis is the only one I'd drop regardless of whatever position he plays (CB or LB). Salcedo is still useful as a CB, but not as an RB. Rafa can play as an emergency sub, not as a starter. Gio shouldn't play as a CAM or winger anymore. I still think he might cut it as a second striker.
Salcedo just needs more playing in Europe, he will be a shitload better, Gio is not in the picture anymore, hes a cancer
It may be time to phase out el principito. Would like to see Pizarro take over that spot by next summer. Provided of course the kid continues playing and progressing the way he has.
I'm willing to see what he can do as a SS. But if he can't perform there, I can't see him going to Russia. Interestingly enough, I think he could've definitely played in the Copa Oro compared to Barragan and maybe Sepulveda.
Salcedo can play as a RWB, he did a good job there before, but he can also go as a CB in the 3-4-3. But, yes, he needs to heal up and get more experience..
aside from the obvious choice, I'd like to say Lozano under performed for what he was touted for. Corona was really missed and Aquino is probably the best super sub at the moment
There's not a single player on the roster, especially not Gio, who would've run down that play against Russia. Keep in mind he only played a handful of times, actually not even once in the first two matches.
I think he was more distracted mentally by his move to Europe, more worried about what was he going to do there, I dont blame him, its a huge change in his life
Forgot to vote for Layun The guy was a HUGE liability against Germany and the 3rd place match against Portugal. Perhaps my opinion on him will change if he gets moved up as a mid rather than playing a fullback. The guy is better on offense than he is on defense
I'm not a fan of Gio at all, but When Lozano played I saw two players that could have done more than him in that position. Aquino impressed me more. That being said, playing in PSV could help out his overall game.
Until he gets more PT in europe, he needs to be a mid or wingback if they go with a formation like that. A LB or RB in a line of 4 just doesn't cut it.
Gio and Rafa are the only ones that shouldn't be called anymore, while Alanis and Layun sucked they kinda have excuses, Alanis is in no way a Leftback and putting him in a position where he won't succeed will only expose the player, his bad games are all on Osorio. It reminded me of that game were the Porto coach played Diego Reyes as a LB, they got destroyed in less than 20 minutes. Layun needs to find a team where he can starts as easy as that but Osorio again ********ed up by starting a guy who was clearly not in form.
Disappointed with the tournament.. This team has more potential then what it showed .. with Osorio the same thing will happen next year .. something has to change ..
