A friend of mine who lives in Russia says that Manuel Fernandes has been sensational this season for Lokomotiv Moskva Clearly a talented player, never really got to the level he should have
My friend and other Russian league fans seems to think that he should be in with a shout for the World Cup he’s been THAT good. Unfortunately the team is too crowded and he’s 31, however the fact he plays in Russia could play to his advantage
Rony Lopes scored a really nice goal just before halftime against Besiktas today. His pressure helped force a giveaway. He quickly received a pass that he took in stride with one touch moving across the field about 30 yards from goal and then curled a low, left-footed shot around Pepe and the GK from outside the box. It was really impressive. He put the shot exactly where he wanted it to go.
Raphael Guerreiro scored in the first half for Dortmund. He was on the edge of the penalty area and made a perfectly timed run through Apoel's back line, a firs-touch pass was flicked on to him, and with his first touch he side-footed a shot over the keeper. Even though he scored a striker's goal, he's playing LB. It'll be great for Portugal to have Raph actually playing LB for his club too.
Ricardo Alves got the award for best goal of Sep and Oct in the Slovenian league as well as best player for Sep.
Paulo Sérgio scored 9 goals and had 12 assists for Bhayangkara FC and helped the club win the Indonesia league championship with a game to spare.
Ivan cavaleiro has been getting better every week for wolves. Their fans love him. Good to see him fulfilling his potential after a tough start to English football last season Our little Portuguese feeder club are becoming a very handy tool for the national team!
Éder scored one and Manuel Fernandes had an assist in a Lokomotiv win, to stay as the leader of the Russian league before the winter brake
The Olympic derby ended with Anthony Lopes winning it over Rolando. Outstanding saves by Lopes ensured a Lyon victory.
Pep has slowly been getting Bernardo Silva more minutes and started him as a false nine today against Cardiff and he played lights out - he ran the show. Had a golaco (incorrectly ruled out) but still got a beautiful cross assist for goal #2 and a well-deserved MOTM. Good stuff.
Sane is out for a month too so he will be starting regularly. All the city fans have noticed he’s been getting better and better as the season has gone one, the only problem is that they can see he is wasted out wide. Yesterday he was played centrally as a false 9 and no surprise that was one of his best performances
Tobias moving to Nottingham Forest is a good move for him. No development over the last few years and Forest have recently appointed Aitor Karanka who is a heavily defensive based coach which will hopefully help him fulfill some of his potential if he’s still got any
It’s an absolute bargain at 15 million, if they didn’t have the option to buy him atletico could easily have charged double that Very excited to see them both next season
Ruben Neves effectively sealed top spot in the Championship for Wolves with a free kick to beat second-place Cardiff City 1-0. Cardiff was awarded two penalties (one soft, one legitimate) in injury time and failed to convert either (one saved, one off the bar). Wolves will have a cushion of at least 11 points between itself and third place (top two receive automatic promotion) at the end of the weekend and only five matches remaining.
