Ronaldo wont play it guys. Forget about it. FIFA only allow the clubs to release U-23 players. Ronaldo will come from a season where he might reach at least a semi final in champions league, Euro 2016, and for us as long as he stays there the best. Never Real Madrid would release him for this. Portugal in 1996 and 2004 sent 3 overraged players either, but from a B Squad who weren't at the Euro (in 2004 were Fernando Meira, Ricardo Costa and Frechaut). But, we didnt have the depht we have now, and if someone deserves to be called as a overraged player by them must be Paulo Oliveira and William who helped this team to qualify.
CR7 was at the 2004 Olympics right after the Euro but he was 19 so no big deal. Anyways, it was a disaster for Portugal. It was Frechaut, Meira and Boa Morte in 2004 as the over age players. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_at_the_2004_Summer_Olympics_–_Men's_team_squads#Portugal
And still that time, i remember it was only because of FIFA rules that Sir Alex Ferguson allowed Ronaldo to play. I even think Barcelona didn't allowed Quaresma to be there if im not mistaken.
If Ronaldo wants to play I don't think Madrid would be able to stop him. It's realistically the last chance he will have to play in the olympics after playing when he was 18.
So far the lineup for Brazil is: Portugal Germany Sweden Denmark Brazil (hosts) Argentina 10 more teams will be added 1 from Oceania, 3 from Asia, 3 from Africa, 2 from Concacaf, and 1 will be Colombia vs some team from concacaf (most likely Panama or Costa Rica) I would assume Colombia, the US, Mexico, Senegal, Ghana, Japan and New Zealand would be locks to qualify
Ghana is already eliminated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_CAF_U-23_Championship_qualification My picks for the remaigning: New Zealand Japan Korea Republic Australia Senegal Nigeria Egypt USA Mexico Colombia
Bring on the Brazilians so we can put in all of the goals we should have scored in the U20 World Cup.
Barring injuries and all, I think we can forget about Paulo Oliveira, William Carvalho and Bernardo Silva making it. I think Ronny Lopes will be the one in Silva's place and everything else will be the U-21 team plus a few older players for leadership that didn't made it to the Euro. It's very hard to make any predictions though. Not only in terms of bench players but also the 3 overaged players can make a ton of difference as well.
Rui Jorge will be the coach I believe they renewed his contract for U21 and most of these guys will be going to Rio to lose in the......let's see how many teams again? ...16 teams, so we are out in the QF's next year after dominating our group and playing beautiful futebol and being the tournament favourite following the group stage. That or we will crash out of the group. Sounds about right
